My Filipina girlfriend eats something called Bagga Ongg. It is a fish paste. As soon as the jar is opened, I almost have to leave the room. Its odor and taste are totally repulsive.
But nothing beats balut (previously mentioned). If you are not familiar with it, go to Wikipedia and look it up.
That being said, I think the Filipino food is one of the best cuisines in the world. The adobo, lumpia and sinigang are to die for, and I am so glad I have met someone that has introduced me to it. |

why dont u just say filipino food..
i think most people would say balut. but honestly, (though many would object to me), i like it and enjoy it. (i'm not filipino though). it's good with lemon and black pepper sauce. |

Bayawak (a variety of the monitor lizard) was offered to me in Pangasinan and locust (I can't remember what it's called) is a delicacy (I think) in Pampanga. |

I was a US Navy photographer and used to be stationed in PI for 5 years during the mid to late 1980's. My landlord Kuya Ben (RIP) used to enjoy having me taste everything. I think he got a kick out of watching my face as a tasted the food.
For me anything Dog (aso) related is the worst. I just can't stomach dog. Balut is not my favorite either. Funny thing we were back visiting a couple months ago and my 10 year old boy tried balut and actually liked it. For being half kano he sure has Filipino taste buds. Overall Filipino food is very excellent! |

So far nothing have stopped me from trying any Filipino food. And I believe in the saying that how would you know if you'd like it until you try it. I have tried many exotic foods & most of them I still eat but a few I tried only that ONE time.
But no, I believe no edible food would stop me from trying it at least once. |
