Kindly give the 3 major problems of the Philippines

Poverty is no.1-squatters everywhere, so much filipinos living only a dollar/day
Pollution-rivers are full of garbages and wastes from factories and humans here and there, air pollution also
Trees on mountains-i barely see trees on this poor mountains now in my prvince
well, the gov't been giving there poor families chances to live in a nice place that can be called home. They've been giving goods also
bout the pollution, they've been trying to shut factories w/c produces lot of dirty smoke and factories that have no permit and transportations also that don't have permits
i don't see this in my province, except the thing about the cutting of trees, thou but i see it in tv and i feel that actions must be taken now!
Edit: I really don't mind the what again? politics? a oh yea politics but i care most to the environment |

1. Graft and Corruption, not just in the government but --- and I dare say --- in almost all sectors of society.
2. Poverty (not just physical poverty but also "moral poverty")
And you know the biggest problem this country has these days?
3. Apathy of the general public towards number one and number two.
Why is corruption rampant? Because we do not care!
I've got into a lot of discussions --- and debates --- with other people, some of them I do not even know, and most of them say that they hate politics and they hate the government. Some of them said they don't want to get involved because it could only hurt them and it will only hurt the country.
God damn it!
Politics is not a bad thing. Stupid is he who says that politics is bad. It's like saying "Guns kill people". Guns don't kill people; people kill people. In the same way "Politics doesn't kill this country; people kill this country".
Many of us think that the problem of the government is not our problem. Many of us think that the problem of the poor and the oppressed and the uneducated is not our problem.
It's easy to say that, right? Many of us are sitting comfortably in our homes, in our offices; eating good food and drinking clean water; and earning sums others can only dream of. Why should we care, right?
You don't deserve to be called Filipinos if that's what you're thinking! We put the government there, and it abused its power. What should we do? And we are just letting everything pass? We have eyes but we choose to be blind! Do you really think that by doing nothing you are actually helping your country?
Do you really think that if you raise even just a finger at corruption, at oppression, at poverty, and at inequality you are "hurting" your country? No. You are hurting it more when you just stand at the sidelines and look. You are striking the heart of your country with a knife with every snicker and laugh you give to people who dream of a better Philippines by doing something about it even at the expense of their selves.
Many want to just go on with the flow and let everything finish in 2010.
Only dead fish go with the flow.
How many more 2010s will we have to wait for everything to be supposedly better? What if 2010 does not come? The future is still a mystery. Why hold on to something that is not as sure as now, the present?
If you read your history you will see that many of the things that have been happening to this country in the past couple of years is virtually similar to those that had happened before the dictator Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law.
Yes, the president cannot declare Martial Law again because it's stated in the Constitution. But every smart Filipino should know that the law has many loopholes and as what we are witnessing now, those in power are attacking those loopholes to the hilt to serve their own ends.
It is said: "If you can't convince them, confuse them." How many times has the government confused us with scandal after scandal; anomalous deals after anomalous deals.
I thought we Filipinos are great? We are so proud of our being intelligent and being talented.
Where were we when this country needed us?
Many of us say, "Who do we put in place of those whom we ousted? All of them are the same!"
Have we really lost respect on ourselves to think that we cannot find those certain people that fit the word "statesmen" (relatively) perfectly?
The problem with many of us is that we look at many things as evil. If something has the potential to be good, we still call it evil --- more precisely, "lesser evil". How can we be a good country if we see almost everything as evil and "lesser evil"?
We are who we say we are.
The problem with many of us is that when we say the word "protest", we already picture in our heads the demonstrations of the militant left; the picture of people shouting in the streets and riot police. Why? Is that the only way we can protest against corruption, poverty, oppression, ignorance and inequality?
Did Dr. Jose Rizal organize noisy rallies when he saw the abuses done to his countrymen and his country?
We don't necessarily need to join street demonstrations. We don't need to be violent. Simple vigilance and showing support for those who have the balls to meet tyrants head-on would be enough. Aim for victory and aim for the betterment of the country by not allowing tyrants to control us. When we fight corruption, poverty, ignorance, oppression and inequality, and when we win the battle, let us not leave a single trace or remnant of the past system.
It's very difficult, yes. But I'm willing to join in any effort to clean the ugly stains in the face of this country.
What have you done for your country?
Quo vadis, Pilipinas? |

Overpopulation - Actually encourage sexual education throughout the Philippines, the church is holding it back to much.
Corruption - Implement harsher punishment for those who abuse their power.
Pollution - Have a better waste minimisation plan implemented
Other than that there are still many problems but I still love the Country. |

For me:
1. corruption of the country's politicians,
2. the poor economy(unemployment) of the country
3. the poverty of many people on the phils.
1. for me it would be better that the phil. congress will approve that any politicians who will got seen on corruption will get a 50 yrs. imprisonment in dapitan etc.
2. for me to solve this problem it would be better that filipinos must keep on going to find a good/better job(cause god lend you the best way to achive your dreams)
3. for me to solve this prob., government organization must establish a better company that will help the filipinos on getting better on their lives, for starting business....
sorry for bad e! |

The Philippines have 2 characteristics which differentiate it from other Southeast Asia countries.
i) the only predominantly Christian country in the region
ii) one of the highest rates of population growth.
91,077,287 (CIA Factbook July 2007 est.). 82% Roman Catholics.
The Catholic Church objects to contraception and abortion; compare Philippines' population with that of Mexico Population: 108,700,891 (July 2007 est.); Roman Catholic 76.5%
Filipinos and Mexicans in the millions have to emigrate to other countries to seek employment. There is a couple of other SE Asian societies too where religious influence cause similiar problems.
[Napoleon Bonaparte, at the gate of Moscow, observed the skyline of Christian domes and remarked: "this country must be backward."]
I have a few observation/comments that will invariably cause resentment to Filipinos so I won't; they regard the country's main religion which in my view retard socio-economic progress of the country.
I feel that former President Fidel Ramos (Protestant in a mainly Catholic Philippines) is the kind of leader that would be able to tackle the problems facing the Philippines. His Presidency was marked by rapid economic progress; implementing economic reforms intended to open up the once-closed national economy, encourage private enterprise, invite more foreign and domestic investment, and reduce corruption. Ramos was also known as the most traveled Philippine President with numerous foreign trips abroad, generating about US$ 20 billion worth of foreign investments to the Philippines.
Study the other Asian countries and you will observe that any country whose society is so seeped in religion cannot progress as well as it should. They also encounter widespread poverty and rampant corruption; their citizens need to emigrate to look for unskilled employment.
"Corruption" and "poverty" are bedfellows of Roman Catholicism throughout their history.
I apologize for any offence I may have caused in my observation; don't mean to because I admire and respect the Filipinos' characteristic traits. |

1. Corruption.
- Only our leaders know to stop this. This is an attitude problem.
2. Unemployment (which leads to poverty)
- Encourage foreign & local investors to put up business in our country.
3. Pollution.
- This requires discipline. There are already several programs by the DENR that are beneficial to our environment, but many people are not concerned with what's happening to our environment. |

1. Poverty- empowerment of the poor and education, eradicate corruption
2. Corruption- political will and responsive clear policies of the government, partnership with the civil society and community education
3. Preservation of environment- strict policies on illegal logging, alternative livehood means, waste management and role models of government and private sectors |

1. too many political parties can't get anything done
they only talk & talk but no action!
2. PARTY LIST they talk only they don't make decisions they only protests, so the projects will not be sign to congress and senate
3. most politicians in the country are self-centered actors and actresses, seems to forget their rolls. remember there's only ONE Phils in the whole universe to protect and promote Filipinos' lifes and life standard. All of us live only once, so don't risk ur reputation and the future of the country. |

1. corruption
-by stop corruption completely, 80% of our problems would be solved
2. social injustice
-social injustice causes poverty
-unequal distribution of wealth and lack of opportunities for the poor cause the poor to become poorer.
3. poor implementation of laws.
-we have be the best laws on environment protection, traffic laws, tax laws etc but its hardly implemented.
i cited these problems because its widespread and obvious. i feel helpless because one citizen can only do so much. |

corruption - the government officials from top to bottom must undergo value reformation. why? they are in the position to serve and not to enrich themselves.
kanya kanya attitude - i believe past governments did something good projects for the people so the new government must continue what is good. they should not forego because it does not belong to their regime.
starting a new project entails lots of cost. a very good example is what is happening to Manila especially avenida avenue.
poverty and lack of education - they must be equipped with skills to survive not always relying on dole out. they must be taught of responsible parenthood because if you do not have sufficient income, you can't bring up your children properly - nutrition and intellectual wise. |

1) Discipline of the people -(ie. Pinoys who don't normally follow traffic rules at home follow traffic rules when abroad). The gov't can implement the laws better and stricter but discipline and the desire to follow the laws should come from within us.
2) Corruption
3) Squatters |

Poverty
I think we cannot to believe about of our economy,it is not to give it an attention to our government when we will having of our problems in our country like not to help to the poor people if they having to of own their shelter, not to give them some food for the children that they cannot to eat a healthy food and even some medicines for the sick people and a lot more and we cannot it survived of our lives because a lots of the crime rate, and some of them they want to buy it of their bodies for the being a prostitute or they want to committed of their suicides due to of their personal problems and we hope to pray a lot until to an overcome of our problems in our own country
Pollution
I'll hope that the government should to give an attention to cleaning of these surroundings especially some garbages in the rivers that the causes to having a flooding during raining seasons and even of our air pollution should to approved it an alternative gas for lesser of our smoking belching in the hundreds of all the vehicles and even to lesser of our petroleum oil price in the gasoline station
Corruption
I'll hope that the government should to tell of their truth to the public about they doing it about their ill gotten wealth and what is that reason they buying about these vehicles or to build it of their houses in the some subdivisions and even go out in the out of the countries and should to resigned it volunteer and to face it to of their accusations against the some complainant that they file it for the graft and corruption and someday they realized that they might it a lot of their mistakes and they doing wrong about that they done it to the Filipino people |
