time when I do them. |

Try whistling loudly.
And if you are musically inclined, I would suggest Schubert's "Ave Maria".
The participants would then wonder why is "ponebre" music echoing in the halls.... and probably join you in agreement. |

Talk to your seat mate. Play games on your mobile phone. Do puzzles if one is handy. If you brought with you a laptop, go yapping. Play games on your psp3.
My advice: if you go on a seminar, always be prepared. You will never know how it turns out. Like you said, it could be so booooring. |

concentrate on the seminar then try to talk with someone who are interested of what topic they talked about. try to make conversation with someone you think that he or she is not interested too. |

Move to the farthest corner of the room and your options grow more. If you have your laptop with you that even expands your choices by paying board games, yapping or just cleaning your emails. Otherwise you can clean you nails or build a 20 story-toy building using matchsticks or toothpick. |

prior to the meeting condition yourself think of the positive outcome of the seminar rather than feel the same way as the other participants. if possible read something about the issues/topics to give you an idea what's going to happened.
consider it as an opportunity to grow and learn something although it means torture to be seating all day. surely you'll pick up at least something new. consider yourself lucky other people may not have the kind of opportunity you have.
in the meeting stay away from those people who feels the same way. make sure to seat conducive for learning rather than sleeping.
make coffee when need be particularly after meals
take as many lollies (candies) as you can. as you know sugar will make you awake.
in the event your eyes seems to close more often than being attentive pretend to write something or taking notes. keep yourself busy. personally i try to do some sketches but make sure to be discreet for you will be offending the organisers/speakers
during forum time make sure to participate. be informative as well. for sure someone out there may learn something from you. be generous with ideas and views. as i said earlier read something about the issues/topic. since you are prepared you will appear confident and smart among your peers.
one hindrance is that you may have stock knowledge behind your head and these will limit you to gain new information. best way is to unlearn! walk in the meeting as if you are there eager to learn new things.
finally, imagine if you are one of the speakers and you sense that people are bored or something how would you feel?
be enthusiastic even if the topic is not your cup of tea that's what they call as diplomatic and professional
good luck! |

At first break, ask some serious guy (those who always take notes not just on seminars) if you can look at his notes when the seminar ends. Then just be back in good time before it ends (one boring hour is better than eight boring hours) and you had the whole day free to do what you want. If somebody says they didnt see you just reply "I didnt see you either, I was looking for you at lunch break". |

You could stay put and think of fun things and try to make it through the day. Actually, a lot of people would want to be in your shoes and attend all the seminars that they can. It is a learning opportunity that many career people see as a tool that they can use for their professional growth and advancement.
If it's really killing you, go out, leave the place and the people alone, take a walk and do different things. After a while, hopefully, you will remember the reason why you are there in the first place. |
