well, today's youth are definitely more brave in terms of fashion but are baring too much flesh
i admire kids nowadays for being techies but i feel they are more engrossed with chatting rather than tapping on the internet's vast info.
i admire today's youth for being more outspoken but on the negative side, they are more rebellious. i see kids smoking, drinking, love-life conscious at a much younger age than my generation had.
the list could go on and on and on... |

You're only young once so make the most of it. Just be moderate in everything you do. Too much fun (over-kill) makes Juan a dull boy.
Please remember that you are the future of the our country. It's a great responsibility, I know, but I have full confidence in our youth. There's no one else.
Think about that whenever you feel like straying off the path. For whatever we, your elders, have failed to do, we sincerely apologize. But do not follow where we went wrong; instead, learn from our mistakes and make it right for the next generation. God bless. |

It's your turn. You now have the opportunity and, like it or not, the obligation to correct the mistakes of your parents' generation. You owe it to yourself, but more importantly, to your children.
Are you equal to the task? I hope you are, and I wish you well. |

A lot of the previous answers here are very demeaning and unfair for the children and young people of this country. We should remember that they are who they are right now because of the influences of the adults around them.
If you think they are not as smart, as driven or as nationalistic as you would want them to be, then we should ask ourselves if we have actually taught them the right lessons, the right perspectives, or have shown them how to do things the right way.
In the years that I've worked on issues affecting them, I've actually met many children and young people who are smart, open-minded and passionate about doing something to help other people and help make changes in the society. Even children and young people who have experienced abuse and those who have formerly been in conflict with the law later on organised themselves and learned as much as they could so they could make changes in their lives and help change the lives of others.
Given the right influences and enough support (especially from adults like us), all Filipino children and young people can do great things. |

I think there are no terms or words that would suffice in describing how the Filipino youth are nowadays. I think, they are mostly god-fearing and they value families, and if properly educated, can really still be the future of our country. Most answers to this question make it seem that most Filipino youth are just spoiled annoying brats that are irresponsible and reckless. I went to a good school in the Philippines and I was exposed to good kids of my age. I do recognize that I am lucky to have had this privilege, which is why I think it's unfair to place the blame on how some of the Filipino youth turned out, on them. I believe that parents play a huge part in molding their children into successful individuals, however, if the society they live in does not offer them enough opportunities to do things that are necessary in making the lives of their children better, then who can they turn to?
I think the Filipino youth deserve all the guidance and support that we can give. As some has already gone astray from the path that would lead them to better more prosperous lives filled with respect and dignity, I believe that instead of blaming them for what they do not possess, we should help in steering them back to the way they should be heading.
I've lived both in the Philippines and here in the US, where most kids grow up more liberated and free to express their own ideas. They are provided with countless blessings and most public schools are, no question about it, about a hundred times better than what the Filipino youth go to. And though I am not saying that American children does not express gratitude towards the things that they receive from the government (coz most do too!), I think the Filipino youth can do so much better in life if more people actually support them and take the time to nourish their natural talents and abilities.
I am proud to have been or maybe I still am, a Filipino youth! (i think i'm still young.. =b) |

Too impressionable and obsessed with going abroad as their only future. No one seems to dream to be succussful by staying in the philippines anymore. |

totally different..not all but majority of them(you)...
during our time, early 80's..most Pinoy family's still pray the rosary, before 7Pm, the kids must be in the house so the family could have dinner together..we still make mano to our parents specially lolo and lola..during bedtime, we love to hear stories from lolas, usually horror rather than watching TV or making tsismis in text..
Our idea of games is going to the neighbor and play traditional games not computer games..
Our idea of chat is going to the sari sari store, or the ricefield and chat with other kids,,not on cellphone or computer..
Our idea of making ligaw is going to the girls house, bring flowers and rent a singer with guitar..not making ligaw on text and yahoo chat..
Our idea of having goodtime is to have a party, cook food on a friends house, play charade, truth or consequence,..not necessarily with liquor, cigarettes or drugs involved.
Our idea of GF is..in your heart and mind..there is no other girl but her alone.
..and so many more...
The bottomline..the youth of today are far different from the youth before where we enjoy the lifes simple pleasures..Today they are so complicated and idealistic, but most of the time are unreasonable..
Just my observations..
I just hope you're not one of them.. |

They act like they know everything. Most of the young girls are ok. Most boys act like total morons. They all seem to be effiminate. Maybe because of virtually no male leadership. |

It would be better if the Filipino youth got their tongues straigthened out. If possible, speak either english or tagalog and not a half-mix of both. Like...
DO:
"Did you recieve my letter last week?"
"Natanggap mo ba yung sulat ko nung nakaraang linggo?"
DONT:
"Did you make tanggap my letter nung isang week, ba?"
Other than that, it's all good.
I'm a Filipino youth, too. |

I was born in the Philippines, I am in the U.S. now, but I haven't visited the Philippines since I was 13 years old. So, I can't really answer for what goes on now a days. I can tell you the last time I was there, I thought the youth didn't have very many opportunities & the parents are too strict. |

Their minds are brain wahed by the adults to go abroad. I am a filipino youth who is currently living in the US. I never felt happy ever since I came to this shitty country. I want to go back to the Philippines 'cuz this country is rotting me slowly. I had a beautiful life in the Phils. since my parents were doctors. Only low-waging families should be obsessed going abroad, not high-waging ones.
By the way, theirm inds are filled with marrying women/men of other nationalitis such as americans, ther minds are teeming with cellphones, the internet is planted in their minds and immigration as well.

They could have the wrong perceptions of all foreigners because of bad influences around them.
Those influences could be school teachers, parents and relatives, politicians and the media.
