I know someone who bought make my friend a statue of Mao but they did not appreciate a small statue of a dictator. If I was you I would get a little red book or something else that would remind them of China. Do not buy a watch because it will break in seconds. |

Anything but not milk products or food products. Not trustable, but be careful. Last year the company NIKE product materials clothing has got poison material. Don't know how many people had worn it but this year baby milk powder has got poison and also the egg, they put colouring on the chicken food to feed the chicken so the egg looks colourful. They want the fish to grow fast and quicker, they put some kind of chemical for the fish so it caused poison fish.
I also brought the leather sofa from land of leather company, the are manufactured in china, the first few days they colour matches but after 2 weeks the colour started to change, one colour is bright and one colour is dark so i phoned back to the land of leather and they say no guarantee for the colour of the sofa, but beware unless you got a friend that works in that company and is an expert on these items. In China next to Hong Kong, the manufacture called casio, the casio watch costs £80 around hk$800, but around the corner, they sell it around £8 = hk$80 so you need some experts on watches actually there to help you out and living there.
The chinese jade, they put the toxic in 1000 degree hot to cook the stone to make it more colourful so they got huge profit. |

Last time I brought back a sword to Australia.
It got through customs fine since it wasn't dangerous. It was a visual performance sword, so not very dangerous or sharp.
That was about $3 and pretty cool.
However it was hard to fit in my suitcase and I had to bend it in. |

Everything is pretty cheap, and they have pretty great knock-offs. My friend went to China and brought us back a lot of jade (gotten cheaply as she toured the factory and got some of the irregular peices), and she brought back a lot of cool Mao things, like lighters that play the national song with Mao's image, etc.
Also, ask for something with "Engrish" if she can find it. (Poor grammer on t-shirts, things written in English that make no sense.) |

Nothing with FUR on it! Have you seen the live animal skinning filmed there? Peta, the charity trying to stop it ask everyone NOT to ever buy ANYTHING with fur on it, anywhere in the world as demand is fueling extreme cruelty in China. So anything you like but NOT Fur! |
