My favorites:

Hong Kong - Modern meets history. Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of life; a sophisticated fusion of East and West; a city of diversity where new and old meet at every turn. It is a unique experience shaped by a distinctive past and dreams of the future; an age-old synthesis of cultures and traditions that opens a window into what will be, while embracing what has passed. Hong Kong is an all-year-round destination. It enjoys a mild climate from the middle of September to the end of February, while the weather from May to mid-September is rather warm and humid. Eighty per cent of Hong Kong's precipitation occurs between May and September, with August registering the highest rainfall. Hong Kong is one of the safest cities in the world even at night, when people may walk alone with confidence. There will be no problems in communicating with people in most hotels, restaurants and even some taxis, English is widely spoken.

Thailand - Over the last few decades, Thailand's capital city, Bangkok, has changed into a modern, exciting and sophisticated city. It offers to visitors not only the cosmopolitan amenities they would expect from other big cities, but also a unique treasure trove of cultural attractions. Thailand, in the heart of Southeast Asia, was never colonised and thus kept its unique culture and heritage intact. Bangkok offers visitors the opportunity to experience fascinating glimpse of Thailand's gentle culture amidst the bustle of a great and dynamic metropolis. This great city has had astounding success in combining the ancient and modern world. For tourists, Bangkok has a feast of attractions to offer. The city is dotted with 400 glittering Buddhist temples of great beauty and fascination, magnificent palaces, classical dance extravaganzas, numerous shopping centres and traditional ways of life, especially along the "Venice of the East" timeless canals and the Chao Phraya River of the "River of Kings" winding through the city. It is worth taking a trip along its waters before exploring further into different canals to take a glimpse of old Bangkok.

Singapore - is made up of not just one island but a main island with 63 surrounding islets. The main island has a total land area of 682 square km. However, its compact size belies its economic growth. In just 150 years, Singapore has grown into a thriving centre of commerce and industry. Its former role as an entrepot has diminished, as the nation has increased its manufacturing base. Singapore is the busiest port in the world with over 600 shipping lines sending super tankers, container ships and passenger liners to share the busy waters with coastal fishing vessels and wooden lighters. One of the world's major oil refining and distribution centres, Singapore is a major supplier of electronic components and a leader in shipbuilding and repairing. It has also become one of the most important financial centres of Asia, with more than 130 banks. Business dealings are facilitated by Singapore's superb communications network which links the nation to the rest of the world via satellite, 24-hour telegraph and telephone systems. Singapore's strategic location, excellent facilities, fascinating cultural contrasts and tourist attractions contribute to its success as a leading destination for both business and pleasure.

Philippines - Very cheap and affordable vacation spots, beautiful beaches. The Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands covering a land area of 115,739 sq. m. (299,764 sq. km.). Main island groups are Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Capital is Manila. Asia's beach capital – the Philippines: Long, white sand beaches, an immense variety of marine life, rare and exotic sea flora and fauna, even the tropical party lifestyle are all in abundance more than a rarity in this country. Evidently, the Philippines can very well be Asia's Beach Capital, what with 7,107 islands, and a coastline twice the length of that of the United States. It is also home to Boracay, whose four-kilometer White Beach has been hailed as the “finest beach in the world.”

Japan - Many visitors know about "100-yen Shops" and enjoy shopping at these and other discount shops, while dining out is also becoming more affordable. Some would go to soba (Buckwheat noodles) shops to have tempura (Deep-fried in vegetable oil, fish and vegetables) soba noodles, rather than going to tempura shops only to order tempura. Also, go in a group to enjoy sharing nabe (pan menu).

China - Of course once Beijing hosts the 2008 Olympics and traffic to China increases, prices are likely to skyrocket. So you'd better go now. I would first go to Beijing, the capital and powerhouse of China. The Forbidden City and the Great Wall are both nearby. From there I might go to Shanghai. It's got a Raiders of the Lost Ark flavor as a huge, bustling city with a landscape that almost looks like it's from Blade Runner. The shopping is fabulous and you can take a cruise on the Yangtze River to see the countryside. Off-the-beaten-path, I would go to the Gobi Desert and explore in a jeep or X'ian, the original capital of China, where an impressive museum of terra cotta warriors exists. Or I might visit Lhasa in Tibet. It's the world's highest city and used to be the home of the Dalai Lama. If I were really ambitious, I might try to travel the Silk Road, which was in A.D. 200 the real link between East and West, from Rome to Beijing.

Cambodia - Angkor Wat. The ancient Kingdom of Cambodia is famous for the warm hospitality it extends to visitors from around the world. Visitors enter a country filled with spectacular temples, natural splendor, and world class resorts. However, it is the warmth and hospitality of the Cambodian people is what most often makes the deepest impression on visitors to this wonderful country. The 12th century glory of the Cambodian Empire was expressed in stone through the construction of the temple monument Angkor Wat and it is still considered the soul of the nation. All Cambodians delite in sharing this treasure with the world.

Cambodia of course! Check out the deep history, people and culture. For some odd reason it is one of the least well known of South East Asia. The Vietnam War and Pol Pot had ravaged the country but it is slowly rebuilding. If you are impressed with a country full of resilience then Cambodia is it.
Khmer has a very great history. The Khmer Empire had once ruled almost all of South East Asia. Angkor Wat is the largest man made temple in the world today. It is visited by millions of people every year.
Forget other countries, Cambodia is the place to be!!

My vote goes to the Philippines for their warm hospitality and nice beaches.

North Korea.

No other country in the world is like this hermit stalinist state where its people are forced to give god-like devotion to its slightly pudgy human leader.

Definitely worth visiting before it collapses or disintegrates because of internal strife and rebellion.
