I know a lot of people had a problem with it, they say it is Catholic, or that Gibson is anti Jew.
All I can say is "I have seen it at least 2 dozen times and will share it with anyone I can...
I am a Christian Minister "not Catholic" but from all the other movies I have seen that has been made over the years, the Passion is "the Best" to show part of the suffering that Jesus went through.
No, not everything is directly from the Bible, but the "idea" of Good vs Evil as with the presence of Satan and the evil beings, are in fact a truth by spiritual means...They were there the whole time but perhaps not in the flesh and blood bodies..
Great for teaching and people who have never really thought about what Christ really went through. |

I think Jesus was very brave and he Gave his life for a worthless human race so we may be with him after death in Paradise..He gave us everything and we give him nothing in return.. |

Although it is a work of man, it was one of the best movies that I have seen about Jesus Christ. I have watched it about 10 times and I like it more every time I watch it! The only part of the film that seems to be a little long is the part when Jesus carries the cross to the hill of His death. |

It was a visually provocative interpretation of the sufferings of Christ as depicted in the Bible. It was intended by Mel Gibson (I suppose) to stir the emotion of believers and non-believers alike. |

This is an interesting q especially because it is asked here in YAP.
And I would think you will be getting a lot of answers. My thoughts on the movie are that it is basically a Roman Catholic interpretation of the final hours of Jesus Christs here on earth.
And although it is more or less as close to the original manuscript as interpreted from the eye-witness accounts of these events, it still falls short on the blood, the gore & the shame that Jesus had to endure.
I understand that it is a very bloody & gory movie as it is already, but if you really want the truth, you have to READ the source. |

Good movie, excellent cinematography and directing. I am not a film critic, whatsoever, but I really like how it was presented. The insertion of the full story in Jesus agony in the garden up to crucifixion.
I really like the performance of actors and actresses, it is like seeing the actual scene. Especially Virgin Mary, how she portray the role, the pain, the tears...its so natural. |

I found it a tad bit violent. I think Mel Gibson couldn't have been prouder of his work. |

This was a movie purely based on religious dogma, to make money. Pure and simple. Mel Gibson is no saint, and his treatment of the cop that got him for drunk driving proved that.
The movie was designed to pull at your heart strings, and the religious Christians of the world. Any time you can get a church to recommend seeing a movie you have a money maker.
This was also a play on anyone with a conscience and made all of us feel guilty of his death.
Did I say, I thought it to be purely a way to make money. |
