Family does play a big part in it, if there family does not approved of you then they will make it hard on the girl and or will try and make the girl break up with you.

Well... as a Chinese girl, I think I speak for girls of any ethnicity when I say charming, funny, intelligent and sweet guys are sought-after.

Why are you concerned that your good qualities may not be 'enough?' If you find a girl who'll like you for who you are, instead of wishing you were somebody you weren't, then she's a keeper... Be patient and have confidence.

there are so many different chinese girls. im from hong kong but im totally different from a Beijing girl my friend is from there and i introduced her to a caucasian friend and they got married last year. She had only recently moved abroad to UK for one year. But i have lived in Uk all my life and would still not marry a caucasion guy. Not that im racist. most of my friends are british. But my parents dont speak english well, and it would be hard for my husband NOT to be able to communicate and build a relationship with my parents. what im saying is, everyone is different, and each chinese girl is unique.

And yes for me, if my parents didnt approve, it would put me off. and plus I think finding someone of the same culture is easier. there are so many differences, even small ones that make a difference, can u use chopsticks everyday? can u eat rice everyday? can u drink some herbal soup that tastes weird to u? can u understand the superstitions? ...so many little things.

But on the on good side, my friend who spoke very bad English fell in love with my friend and there very very happy now. She didnt marry him for money coz she was rich herself.

Chinese women if i must generalise are more family orientated so they would like there partner to be more caring to their family. and u know that if u marry a chinese girl, u have to a dowry to their parents. and then every month u will have to give money to them....its not like theyre greedy, its tradition. and in western culture, u can call ur father in law/mother in law by their first name. but in chinese culture, that is a definite no..... we greet them if not married, auntie, uncle, if married we say mum, dad. And for ppl who are a generation above us, we call them auntie, uncle too.

There are so many little things that make a difference u need to know. maybe when u find out about our culture, ull know if really are attracted to chinese women.

I think in some ways it's good that you aren't rich. That way, you can weed out those girls who are after your money, of which there are plenty in China when it comes to foreigners. It sounds like you are obviously after the girls with more depth and you are seeking a long-term relationship with a Chinese girl. In this case, as many have mentioned, family is quite important and is something that you can never be rid of (for better or worse) when it comes to dating/marrying a Chinese girl. Parents are very picky because they want their children to have good lives. In China, it is a reality that if you aren't successful or have money, you are less likely to be able to take care of your family, no matter how good of a person you are. This is why the family focuses so much on this aspect of a girl's future husband. Of course, they also look at exterior appearance, such as height and your general features. While this isn't as important as your level of success, it does figure somewhat into the equation for the more picky parents. Finally, they want you to have the "right" personality. This means, you need to seem considerate and caring to her, and respectful especially to her parents, the rest of her family, and the elderly. In other words, you really need to act more Chinese. Learning the language would definitely be helpful here. Even if you don't speak it perfectly, you will be showing that you care about the country/culture and that you are trying. Of course, you should also keep in mind that the Chinese culture is rapidly becoming more open so that people have become more accepting of Western culture and the idea of marrying a foreigner. Keep holding on to those good qualities, of course there will be someone out there who will appreciate them. Then try to develop more of an understanding of Chinese culture and language. All successful relationships require a great deal of understanding of the other person, and that just isn't possible if you don't understand her background and culture.

I have talked to a lot of Chinese women and what I am told is that the "nice" girls wish to marry a Chinese man, with money, and stay in China, if they travel overseas it would be with their Chinese husband. They have ALL said the man MUST be wealthy and successful.

Chinese women who for some reason arent in this "class" and dont ask me how or why that is seek out foreign men who have money.

The nurturing and caring depends on how much money you have.

A lot of foreign men have fallen into this trap - I have seen and heard this "nurturing and caring" while out with male friends, they zero in on them immediately and start pouring on the charm, waiting on them, offering to help them, tell them how handsome they are and my favourite "you so handsome, I love you" 5 minutes after meeting them -

They dont care if you are married or even if you are with your wife - they will just try and shove her out of the way --

If you werent "so handsome" before you got to China nothing has changed - you are still the same person, trust me.

If you are willing to pay for someone to tell you how handsome and smart you are then go for it just remember it gets old real fast once you are hooked and landed.

That charm and nurturing can dissapear REAL fast, and sadly most of these couples dont live happily ever after when the woman starts to show her true colours.

If she hit the sack with you right after meeting you then you have to ask yourself how many other foreigners have been there before you ?

I know one foreign fool who met a chinese woman and she was in bed with him two hours later, told him she was an art director for some fictional company in Beijing, as soon as she had "charmed" him she said "we get married now, you take me back to Canada with you? How much money you have? You have big house in Canada?"

When she found out he was a teacher, not rich in Canada she couldnt get out of there fast enough --

Thats not to say there arent nice Chinese women, there are, but they wont be trolling for foreign men - trust me on this one

I think it is true, because when i was in like 2nd grade i made friends with this girl who was Asian. Then the next day she came to school and told me she couldn't be friends with me because I was white.

Are you living in USA? If you live in USA then you have a big advantage. Also if you from other countries such as Canada, Sweden, UK, Germany, Aust. etc then she is very delightful to know you or even marry you after few weeks. Because they want to go to other foreign countries fast to make a better life, maybe a green card or money. They still think other countries is still better than China.

Yes, there some success stories regarding the chinese China lady stay with you, but you need to have money or have a nice job such as doctor, lawyer, business owners, younge, handsome etc.

They treated you very nice as a king at the beginning of the first few months after she got the green card her personality is totally different and she start to left you. (from a true friend story) But if your old, fat and ugly she for sure left you if you dont' have money after she get the green card and you even have to paid the divorce fees and give her half your money or house.

You should act fast if you like a Chinese lady. Because i think this is going to change after 15 years later. China will get better just like other western countries and more Chinese ladies have better education and nice job. They don't' like to go to western countries anymore after 15 years. Now they like to marry to foreigners because they have no good education, no skills,no nice job or poor life. So that's why they are more into western guy. But things will change when they have better education and China become the world rich country. Check other website what other have said, it's good for you to know more details before you make the mistake.

***Why chinese ladies born in the US or other countries don't date the Western guys that much? Because Chinese Born America has better education and life. They don't need to find someone is oldest than them a lot and they dont' need a green card.

I think she just using her parents as an excuse. She didn't like you becasue she knows you don't have money. If you have money she will accept you doesn't matter her parents like or not. If she know you are very rich she will chased you anywhere, you don't even have to call her she will call you. She just using language and her parents as an excuse because she didnt' want you to think that she is into your money. They like western or other guys because they like to go to America, Canada or other foreign countries. And they are interested in Green Card and Money only. Think about it why they like you????

Well you made the first common mistake guys make very often. Please read the following line carefully. ALL GIRLS, EVEN IF THEY ARE OF A CERTAIN RACE, ARE NOT THE SAME! NOT ALL CHINESE GIRLS WANT RICH MEN WHO SPEAK CHINESE. Okay now that you've gotten that into your head here's my advice. That girl's parents probably wanted her to marry a Chinese man because they wanted to keep their traditions. You probably would have liked you as a partner if those barriers weren't set up. Not all girls want Chinese speaking partners. Some don't care what their parents think because all they care about is finding someone who can make them happy. It just comes down to preference.

*Don't assume all Chinese women are nurturing, caring, youthful, and charming. There are many without some or any of those kinds of features, trust me.

Ask yourself why she likes you , your not white and your not chinese and your don't have money? Sorry to said like this, but it's true they dont' like you unless you have money. But if your chinese they might think about it even you dont' have money. But still even your chinese they don't like you becaue you dont' have money to take care of her and her family. But it's ok if you don't have money if she want to have a green card or stay in North America or other countries she might interested in you. You know, nowdays chinese guys are very smart now they don't chase a chinese visa students because they are parents know that the girls is interested in their green card or money only. Even they love you now she will left you after she got the green card. I heard this real story from a friend, she said, one of her mandarin speaking lady friend want to know a rich hubsand she always go to bar becasue she know bar has lots of rich people. She was very lucky she found her rich hubsand at the bar after 1 month. Becasue before she was living in a one bed room share basement and didn't have enough money for foods. She always carry one bag of noodle in her bag everywhere she go. She ate the noodle every month. Now, she is teach girls where to go look for rich western guys. Because she was one of the success story. And she is one of the real agent boss wife.

Ever think about what she SAID? She turned you down BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T SPEAK CHINESE according to you. What can you do? Well for starters you could get some common sense. Then armed with that you would recognize that YOU SHOULD LEARN CHINESE. See if you want someone you adapt in certain areas. Learning Chinese wouldn't hurt you any, and if that is what it would take to get her to approve then it would be a good idea.

I am engaged to a Chinese girl. She approaced me in Nanning. She is very sweet, kind and nuturing. Chinese girls are like girls everywhere. They want love ,security and to be treated with respect. I have dated three Chinese girls and have never had a problem with their family disapproving. I find that Chinese girls are very fond of Western men.
