filipinos are special just like any other race...It depends on the upbringing,belief and culture of that person is what determines the representation of their race. Filipinos are mostly stereotyped as shy, hard-working, 2nd class citizens(since Philippines is a developing country), strong accents, large families and smelly foods.

In response to "sonny too much" accusation of filipinos being rude and inconsiderate(guy above who commented), tell me any race that doesnt have their share of rude and inconsiderate people. It seems to me your describing the "big city" personality where everyone is pushing and shoving and is less polite because of the fact that they have to compete with millions to get what they want so good manners is to a minimum. Remember, Philippines is a developing country which means money is scarce or none and the job rate is ridiculously low so you have to factor in crime, abuse, illiteracy and "survive in the jungle" mentality so you cant generalize all filipinos as rude and inconsiderate. In turn, your rude yourself for generalizing all filipinos that way and ignorant for not factoring the reasons why they may be rude and inconsiderate.

Filipinos are kind, hospitable people. If you are a foreigner travelling in the Philippines, you can count on them to help you and offer to give directions when you are lost.Most of them are shy.They don't usually say hi and smile to strangers.

Filipinos is happy go lucky people, the woman work hard for family,the man are lazy and drink alot.

I think some of them are cool as Hell!!! Some of my good drinking buddies, both here & back home are Flip. They are some crazy SOB too.

I know a little about them but not a lot. I dated one for a while and I met a few by knowing her and I met a few in clubs. I do not find anything wrong with them as a people or as a person. The beliefs are not the same but my Thai girl friend's beliefs are not the same either.

Over all I give Filipinos a big thumbs up.

I'm a filipino so I know them... I know the country because i was born there and lived there half of my life..... well I would say filipinos are very nice and friendly people except for some who really doesn't like socializing.

We Filipinos are generally friendly and warm. We would go extra mile just to make sure our guest are compfortable (which are sometimes abused). We are happy people. We don't get problems depressed us.

Filipinos are also very talented and hardworking. We can easily adapt to any place we go.

Of course, in every nation not all are good. We have our share of bad apples as well. But who doesn't. It's just sad that people like sonny_to_much have been generalizing because of some people he met. And to JB: that person who refused to accept your $1 is probably just happy to serve you without waiting for something in return. Most Filipinos are like that.

I have had the opportunity to go there a few times in the military, I think the Filipino people are proud, and the most surviving thru hardships and poverty. The Filipina women are the most exotic women i have ever experienced in my life. And lastly.. I can understand why peeps want to go back there like myself.

I just came back from the philippines two months ago, being a filipino-american, i didn't realize how much i was missing out on... i just fell in love with the filipino culture, it touched my heart to see how generous n open hearted they are, people give without waiting to receive anything in return, they have great family values like in restaurants, you see families praying before their meals, they definetely value friendships and family..they all go to church... by the way, the food is so good, so much richer n full of flavor... the people are hospitable, they will not eat in front of you if you are not eating with them.. they offer you their own meal... their hearts are pure and they give their all., they are simple and good people... Comming back from there has definetely softened me up and made me a better person.

I met my Filipina wife in the UK but we got married in the Philippines. Ordinary people there have struggled against poverty, internal strife, widespread corruption and constant natural disasters and yet, despite the problems, they possess a wonderful spirit of survival that shines through adversity. I was humbled by their generosity and hospitality - even when many have so little they are prepared to give so much and were proud to do so. Thank you to all I met for your love and kindness.

Filipinos are the whores of Asia. Everyone's had a piece of them. The Spaniards, The Chinese, the Americans, the Japanese, essentially, EVERYONE. But, that's what accounts for their great strength of spirit. The Philippines is a third world country, where the majority are in the lower social class of people. However, you'll notice that the suicide rate is very low. They do not give up and call it quits. They drag on day after day to make what ends they can meet, and do it with a smile. Just like Hemmingway, they live by the mantra "Grace Under Pressure". And for that, I admire them. Yes, it's true, they eat dogs, and do anything to make a quick buck, but given they don't have ANYTHING, it's merely a mamallian survial instinct, and it can't be blamed on their personality, as much as their drive to survive.

I am married to a Filipino woman and she makes me very happy. Beyond that everytime I am in the Philippines everyone looks at me and they have dollar signs in their eyes. Everyone I met there wanted money from me. They think all Americans are rich. I work hard for the little bit I have and I hate people that think I should give them all of it. Except for my mother-in-law, every person in my wife's family asked for money.

A so called "friend" of my wife invited me to stay in their home when I was there. They came to the hotel I was staying at to bring me to their home. I told them I would stay at the hotel and they insisted I stay with them because they are friends. When I was ready to leave to come home they handed me a bill for 20,000 pesos for staying with them. They never said I had to pay them before I went to the home or at any time I was there. They wanted more than what it cost for the hotel. I refused to pay them and after I left they threatened to take my wife to the police if she did not give them the money.

So other than my wife and mother-in-law I have no love or respect for the greedy Filipinos.

Also her friend tried to sell me her baby. What is wrong with these people?

I've met the Americanized/Canadianized ones and for the most part there cool. The only complaints I have is that one time I was an hour late to a basketball game against me and my friend. So I arranged it so that next week we'd meet, but the guy stood me up and used the same excuse of him coming and hour later (though he didn't cuz I waited for 3 hours that day).

1)Filipinos are vengeful
2)Filipinos are conceited
3)They stick to close to family (not necesarily bad, its just that I hate my family)

Filipinos have always been very nice and helpful when I was there and if you treat them well they are a friend for life. Filipinas are some of the most beautiful women in the world and treat you as their best friend or partner for life. Bravo
