An endless list of things.

Excellent and polite service. Extremely efficient trains. Beautiful traditional architecture. Extremely ugly modern architecture. Beautiful things like paper, silk, that sort of thing. People talking about Japan who've never been there and know nothing at all about the country and get their information from the internet. Beautiful shrines and temples and old traditional towns and villages. Really cool cars.

Note: About this animal thing. Are you talking about individual people doing this or industry or what? I've never heard of such a thing and I have a lot of contact with people involved with food and food production in Japan. I've talked with Japanese people about horrible things done to animals in other countries and they are appalled, so animal abuse isn't something I would latch onto the national character and I doubt either of you care a lot more about animals than I do.

I've seen horrible things that have happened in many countries around the world, but I don't base my opinion of the entire country on it.

(But ,can't forget what they did to china though..hard to accept i guess... I love japan but my mom hates it coz of the past issue thing... She's chinese, I'm half..)

Jade's mam,you can say that again .i saw the same film footage on the internet.it was groos and made me think twice about japanees.i think of japanees as a good and nice people.they are very hardworking and kind.it's really unlike of them to treat animals like this.i have serious doubt to believe every body in japan treats animal like this.
if anybody knows how much this groos way of treating animals is widespread in japan let me know.thank you.

I think about kimono.., I am fond of it's traditional clothings..they are very kawaii and totemo kirei!! About their food, I'm not into it..not to say it's mazui or what.. but I like mine better..
Well, when I think of Japan, I think about my Japanese teacher, Watanabe Rio Sensei..she symbolises the japanese, who are verrry hardworking-ganbatte!!, cute, respectful, polite, fashionable, do no waste time of their own.. They are so chasing the time and have high qualities, at least most of them..
Sakura represents Japan and it's beautiful soft pink colour attracts everyone.
The hustle-bustle life in Tokyo, high technology, Shinkansen-very futuristic, and incredibly intelligent robots!!
Those are Japan's attraction and maybe those could be the reasons why foreigners(gaijin) would like to visit, travel, or even stay in Japan!!

I always end of thinking of its rich history and facinating culture that is so completely different from our own. I find it to be a facinating country, so deeply rooted in its past and old traditions, yet so modern and jumping ahead of the technology game.

Animal abusers. I don't mean to sound rude in anyway at all, but I have seen some horrible things on the Internet about how they treat their animals. They skin them and boil them alive. I know not everyone there does this and I am not stereotyping, but ever since I saw it that's all I think about when I hear about Japan.
