It tastes like heaven after a long night of drinking. Smother it in onion, ketchup, mayonnaise, sauerkraut and olives to get the full effect.
Added bonus: If you pass out while eating your hot dog, you can eat the rest when you wake up in the morning. |

Well, there are really two different kinds of hotdogs in Taiwan. Taiwanese hotdogs that you can find at 7-11, Nicomart, etc, are really bad compared with the hotdogs I grew up with in the US. American hotdogs are usually much better tasting than the Taiwanese hotdogs (which to me always tasted like a lot of corn mixed in with very oily meat). I always thought that American hotdogs made from beef taste very good (they taste like hot salami), but if they're made from pork and chicken, they taste like bologna.
I would recommend you stay away from hotdogs and just eat the Taiwanese sausage (Xiang Cang), from the Shi Da night market!

Wow! I can't believe some of the responses on here. Why do some people assume that everyone has tasted a hotdog? The flavor of hot dogs varies widely by region and by personal preference as do the toppings. The flavor of the sausage itself somewhat resembles bologna on the bland side, to cooked salami for the spicier varieties. Hot dogs are traditionally made from beef, pork, or a combination of those meats. Some hotdogs now are made from chicken, turkey, or tofu. |
