"Que sera, sera" is generally understood in the English-speaking world to mean "what(ever) will be, will be", similar to Shakespeare's "come what come may". This popular usage comes from the title of a song from the film, "The Barefoot Contessa", written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston and sung by Doris Day.

The truth, however, is that, as it is written in the song title, the phrase means nothing in any language. The closest in Italian would be "Che sarÃ , sarÃ ", whereas in Spanish it would be spelled "QuÃ© serÃ¡, serÃ¡".
