Leepimm
"Cha" is tea.
If you want Iced-tea, you call it "Cha-Dum-Yen"
If you want Iced-milk tea, you call it " Cha-Yen" or " Cha-Nom-Yen"
If you want Iced- lemon tea, it's " Cha-Ma-Now-Yen"
You see, "Yen" means cold and icy.
hope that helps.

Cha? Transliteration is always difficult, as was said it is more than likely ชา or maybe ชะ The first being tea and the more likely answer, the second being to "wear away".

The meaning depends on the sound/pitch of the word 'cha'. If you heard it sound with the same tone as 'bah' or 'ha' or 'car' --very monotone, then most of the people here are right. It means tea. NOTE: it can also mean 'numb'..unable to feel any pain or no feeling. (both meanings are for the monotone 'cha')

However, changing the pitch and tone of the word to say it like you are asking question==> cha?, it means slow. So take your pick accordingly to the sound of the word you heard. Good luck with that. My husband has problem distinguish these different tones/sounds even when I said it slowly as trying to make it sounds different for him. Then I gave up.

Thai words pronounced a little bit like Chinese where the variation of the sound makes the word means different things. Even same word with different spelling but exact same pronunciation means different things. Worse same word with same spelling could also means different things depending on the content of the sentence it is in.
The word Cha: Or rather Sha could mean:
1. A Cup of Tea, as in I wanna drink a cup of Cha
2. Numb, My legs turn Cha
3. Ignore, She has been Yen Cha to me..(Ignoring me)

The word kan, with same spelling and pronunciation can means five things depending on the content of the sentence so you have to be more specific about the sentence you refer to the word.
