My 1st neighborhood was awesome!
I've Chinese frm various clans thus the Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Cantonese, Mandarin influence, besides my house, thn there's Indian-Serani in front, behind my house around & Muslim too. As a kid, I go to school daily wth my Malay & Indian friends. Come back wth my Malay & Chinese friends. There's a few playgrounds with healthy mixture of all race. Bcs of the schools nearby & the facilities. Thus the race population were like 33.33% for all. Got a few expats but it's very rare. Whn there's kenduri, gong xi open house, etc we're invited. Most ladies will greet each other & talk non-stop everyday while marketing & even while buying bread frm the indian roti seller T_T". My dad's best buddy bck thn were the Indian-Serani & the chinese hawkers. Mum's were those 101 aunties frm various clans. I can say my Malay good coz. of my Malay & Indian friends. English pretty much su-cks haha.

I never knew incidents like "racist" nor even aware of it back thn. (It's only until senior high school did I understood & kena stabbed just bcs of my race).

Thn. I move to my 2nd neighbourhood. Lived in apartment areas. But it's pretty quiet. Nobody around much. 1st few neigbors were expats. The ones frm Germany were sweet old couples, never failed to greet us ..but always sweet & simple. Maybe bcs most of us were too shy to speak much. Only spoke to my dad mostly on life, gardening, food & etc. Mum didn't hv any aunty friends around =. Thn there's the Americans mix Philiphines family very active & adventurous type; very friendly but I dn't feel comfortable speaking to the man coz. he always wear his undies/ walks 1/2 naked. He even greet me in it before whn I passed by Shocked my eyeballs out! O_O. But he gets along very well wth my dad + bro. 1 thing I like really like is they way they treat their kids, the way they education & loving them.

The Taiwanese couple, very smart, clean & hardworking ppl. The wife - i noticed enjoys holding intellectual conversations else she will be reading loads of books. Only speaks to my parents coz. their mandarin are superb. Yeah mostly ignore us. I've also a Jap mix Chinese neigbor, their wife & kids are SO adorable always greet us & hold small talks but that's about it.

Thn there are the Middle Easterns & Bangladesh, pretty talkative at times. But I didn't enjoy some of their hidden intentions & certain twisted nature. I also didn't enjoy lending things to them coz. they never return or just act ignorant of it. It happend not only to my family but my other neigbors as well.

Erm what else, I used to hv a few chinese & malay neigbors very friendly & we used to exchange food & stuffs. = but they moved away.

So overall it's ok. Not too bad.
Maybe coz. my family don't know how to interact with others much lol. But it's just not easy to build bridges nowadays.

The one i have now (in the city) are so quiet. Even if we meet in the elevator, they won't even smile or talk or looking at us. The others are okay, friendly and nice.
The one i have at kampung, wah.. typical la, so busybody, in fact everybody knows what everybody doing but it's kind of nice. Got something happen now, in a matter of minutes the whole kampung already knew, with a little bit of addition. Which on better? I love my neighbors at kampung more, no matter how busybody there are.

most of my neighbors expats like Korean, Japanese, Indians and the mat & minah salehs.Korean are rude and loud, japanese women are polite but the hubby are too serious, always put up their serious black face. The indian wife cook curry early in he morning as you can smell it every morning at 6am, just like a wake-up call :)). Some mat & minah salleh are friendly but are snob too. Ithink I live with colorful people :))

My neighbour, a working couple, keeps to themselves. Maybe they are shy. They would smile & say hello whenever our eyes met. Apart from that they go about their own business. Not that I'm complaining, that's fine with me. It's better than nosy or quarrelsome neighbours or those who partied all night long.

Very nice question myra..

I Excellent neighbours.. we sometimes went out together for makan & stuff.. We always chit-chat during the evening while gardening & watering the plant..
wonderful neighbour indeed.. we exchange food, fruit & others.. We look at each others house.. when i balik kampong i tend to leave my keys to them & vice versa.. they even water my plants when i'm not around & feed my cats..
I love this peaceful neighbourhood..

I've one chinese neighbour back in kampung, wonderfull couple & always smile..

Bean
The best way to describe my neighbours are as 'quite' both sides of me are Muslims families (Afghanistan and Somalian) and they pretty much keep themselves to themselves which is nice and peaceful.

I'm not a busy body by no means but I do expect others to not be nosy and not wanting to know my life history just because we are neighbors. My neighbors are good. We don't bother each other but if something is going on that isn't right or is of concern we help each other out.
For me when I get home from work I don't want to be bothered by my neighbors. My home is my refuge. I know I sound like a very unfriendly person but I much prefer no one to come by. My home is my place to relax, enjoy peace and quiet. I will talk to my neighbors if we are close by but we respect each other space and lives that we don't have to talk everytime we see each other.

I have pretty friendly neighbours. We do chat about things in general and sometimes exchange food during festivals. Mine are mostly Chinease or Peranakan neighbours. I am in Singapore.

Malayan Tiger
My neighbour is a chinese family in their late 40's with a school going daughter. The wife never comes out of the house while the husband always smiles whenever we cross each others path.

Hmm.. the one next to us are mean to us :-(
They kutuk us sometimes, and once that guy yelled at my mother for no reason.. He even got arrested by the cops once, hahaha.. *ahem*..
But the rest of them are very nice people, we exchange food dishes and get invited to weddings and such :-)

the other one beside my house is a copycat.. they copy the renovation design of our house completely...

the opposite neighbour is very very very arrogant, the neighbour beside the arrogant neighbour is very friendly.

I haven't been too lucky with neighbors actually=(
My previous neighbors were good people but strange as well, lol. I currently live next door to a bunch of hillbillies who have no common sense whatsoever.
They slam doors at odd hours during the day... parks their vehicle often blocking our pathway, making it impossible for me to maneuver my way out.
I guess you just can't win sometimes=P
