I'll just answer this later. It's still early.
That, my dear, is "Filipino time."

A negative connotation of Filipinos being habitually and sometimes deliberately late for appointments. This is however not unique to Filipinos as I have found out through my daily multicultural interaction with others. The only difference though is that we expect the other party to be late as well and we oftentimes we don't bother to call ahead of time and inform the other party of our delay.
We should have a standard time all over the Philippines and encourage everyone to come on the dot. |

Filipino Time
*pronounced Fi-li-pi-noh taym
*defined as the concept of arriving at least 30minutes late for any set appointment or social gathering; arriving 30minutes to one hour after the supposed meeting time.; the extreme application of the term "fashionably late".
*in practical use:
1) A party set to start at 9:00 pm will have no attendees until around 10:00pm.;
2) A seminar set for 8:00 am will have only 25% of all confirmed attendees present by 8:30, 50% by 8:45, 75% by 9:00 and 90% by 9:30. The remaining 10% will either a) arrive at even later times or b) not show up at all.
3) The speaker himself for said seminar will most probably arrive by 9:00 am, unless the speaker is of foreign blood.
^_^
EDIT: Btw, thank you, whoever you are that gave me a TD. I will return the favor if I ever find out who you are. ;P |

Let's say you are invited to a party and the host tells you that the celebration starts at 7:00pm. The first Filipino might arrive after 8:00pm.
One way I have countered the "Filipino Time Syndrome" is to tell the Filipino's that the party starts at 6:00pm (most still arrive 6:30 maybe they have cottoned onto my ruse).
Now if and when I get invited to a Filipino party I ask the host is it 6:00pm Australian time or is it 6:00pm Filipino time. |

Filipino Time, which means things get done whenever they get done. Official Timing of The Phillipines.
"Filipino Time" is the coined phrase for the embarrassing affliction of tardiness among Filipinos. It is curious and mind boggling how the general population of a certain nation could possibly be chronically late. And yet, it has been tried and tested to be true to this very day. Try having a party with the invitation stating an arrival time of 4 pm, and people will start trickling in at 5 or 6 pm.
“Filipino Timeâ€, albeit on a better-late-than-never basis. |

depends on which "era" you look at it;
If it was during your great great great grandma's era then it would mean 'On-time' or 'early', If you look at it today then it's about 30-60 minutes late. |

Probably because of traffic jams, people are always late.
But people know that if they have an appointment with me, that I only wait 15 minutes.
If people will be late, then they should call up to say they will be late.
If I am in traffic, I call the people and tell them, sorry I am stuck in traffic.
I would never wait outside anymore. All my appointments are either in a coffee shop, mall or just at home.
No problem with waiting anymore. |

Basicaly it means
-At an average 30minutes to 2hours later than the appointment without prior information or real reason
Common excuses include
-I didn't have any load on my cellphone
-Traffic was horrible (although you know that there was no traffic)
-A cute smile
-I met someone
-They don't say anything,'cuz it seems totally normal to be late |

it simply means that you're 1 hour late. . . hehe. . .
that describes how Filipinos are lazy that they won't really start exactly the time they should start. . .
so, don't let it happen that you would be told that you are "filipino time". . .
because it means you're late. . . |

The later you are for something, the more important you feel.
A friend wanted to have their wedding at 10 or 10:30AM, so they told everyone that their wedding was at 9am (knowing everyone would be late)
No one showed up until 10am and the Pastor did not show up until 10:25am. The wedding started at 10:30AM
That my friend is Filipino time. |
