よい日- Good Day

you say "Ohio"

Jay A
Ravanne is correct. Konichiwa is most common throughout the day.

Jamila H
Konnichiwai or you can say Hajimemashite means "how do you do?" ( It is used when meeting for the first time.) or you can also say Douzo yoroshiku means " Nice to meet you".

Hope this helps!!!

Ravanne's right... tho' 'ohayo' is with an 'a', not an 'i' in romanji.
Those that are saying 'mushi' are getting confused with 'moshi-moshi' (hello on the phone). 'Mushi' means insect.

Kiyura
Konnichiwa.

There are several different ways to say Hello:

1. Konnichi wa- Standard greeting, also translated Good afternoon.

2. Moshi Moshi- Used mainly when answering the telephone. Also used when trying to get someones attentions but you aren't sure it is who you think it is. For example, if you are walking down a dimly lit road and you think you see a friend walking down the other side, you could say "moshi moshi?"

3. Ya ho- Very friendly, commonly used by youngsters upon meeting in the morning, or for a date/event.

4. Ohayo/ Ohayo Gozaimasu- Standard greeting used in the morning. Mainly translated at "good morning".

5. Konban wa- Another standard greeting used mainly/exclusively in the evening. Mainly translated at "good evening".

There are other more colloquial ways to say hello, or should I say more guttural ways to say hello, but that would go on for days. These five are the most common.

Hope that helps.

Depends on the time of day.

Ohiyo Gozaimasu - Good morning (used until around 10am)
Konichiwa - Good day (from mid-morning through sunset)
Konbonwa - Good evening (after sunset)
Moshi moshi - Hello (on the telephone only)
