Wikipedia is correct for the person who post before me. Thailand is the hub for Honda, Toyota, and Mitsubishi. Lately GM along with several other car manufacturers are building car assemble plant in Royong Province mainly for export purposes.
Honda is making Thailand one of it's largest car production for export. |

Thai economy is diversified well.
According to Wikipedia, leading industry was auto manufacturing, about 11% of GDP (though maybe no longer, given the current crisis). Tourism accounts for 6% (contrary to what most people expect).
Leading sector of the economy may well be agriculture -- it employs the most people (42% according to CIA Factbook), and accounts for ~12% of GDP.
Official figures may be unreliable and tweaked, it seems to me a fair part of Thai economy is probably not tracked. |

Thailand does not export autos. (The only Thai autos are Tuk-Tuk and Tiger motorcycles... not exactly in high demand abroad)
Thailand is the largest exporter of rice in the world (at least it used to be), Thailand also derives a large portion of its industrial revenue from garment/footwear production.
