What is the one thing you HATE the most about Malaysia? |
Something different for a change. We have been singing Malaysia’s praises all long.
Let me start the ball running & quote you a few examples:
1. State controlled media - publishing only what the government wants us to know. Look at our newspapers controlled by political parties, printing permits controlled by government.
2. Racial discrimination - the long suffering Chinese & Indians. Quotas imposed in universities, scholarships, public sector employment, just to name but a few.
3. Reckless Malaysian drivers - Self explanatory :-). Why then do we have Ops “this” & “that” during festive season? And any reduction in road accidents?
4. Bahasa Melayu - at the expenses of English. Now that the goverment has woken up to the importance of English, isn’t this a bit too late? No enough suitably qaulified English teachers.
These are the 4 items that I can think of, for now. What’s yours? |

Hats off to you mate for speaking out loud! Well, there are plenty of issues to say bad about M'sia but i'm afraid most of them are sensitive issues. It is an open secret you know. As a M'sian, i'm proud to live here and we are all given an opportunity to make a living. There are bound to have discrimination and i think for 'us' we'll take it in our stride.
There is the NEP we're talking about surfaces from many yrs ago before we were born to your sent. no.2. Qoutas everywhere..govt. giving out loans and still cant recovers back!
Look where we are heading... helping Indo ($$)to recover their economy after disasters struck the country over and over again yet many ppl in our country still live in poverty needed help. When flood hits our country did Indon govt. came to help? Yeah they gave us HAZE which hit tourism industry
Imagine the news headline says Malaysia and Indonesia are like brothers!! |

Well..
1stly.. u dont ask such question in this section...
Secondly, why ask such an uneasy question..
But let me answer some of the question..
Let me start the ball running & quote you a few examples:
1. State controlled media - Every media in the world control by the qovernment.. its a fact.. even singapore or U.S control the media. this is to cut off sensative issue & stuff.. so u can't blame malaysia for that..
2. Racial discrimination - this is not an issue, the chinese & india must obey/ respect the racial contract that was establish long time since malaysian independance.. all races are living in prosper & wealth.. Singapore racial discrimination is more worst than malaysia.. even malaysian chinese doesn;t want to live in singapore..
3. Reckless Malaysian drivers - well we all want to be F1 drivers,
u cant blame them though.. but my visit to cameron highland last CNY proves that singaporean is more reckless driven than malaysia due to there's a lot of car wreck besides the road having singaporean plate number..
4. Bahasa Melayu - the government knows the important of english.. but in our constitution or Rukun Negara.. already stated bahasa malaysia as bahasa rasmi.. so why bother.. we dont want one that the important of bahasa malaysia been deminish by new rules.. Dont want to be like singapore.. even the chinese singapore dont really know to talk or fluent in mandarin..
this is their mother language for generation & they dont really know ..
I love my country.. Nothing that i hate in my country..
But there's a lot of improvement needed but not to the extend hating my own country..
Just u imagine comparing Malaysia with singapore/ thailand/ indonesia/ philipines.. where u want to spend ur life at.. |

To name a few:
1) Corruption everywhere
2) Government policies, lop-sided
3) Government servants - wow!! tried getting through immigration when you are in a rush??
4) The Police? Ever called 999 before and check how long it takes them to arrive? For info, I live just opposite a police station. Ever confronted one during the Chinese New Year season?
The above are only the tip on the iceberg. |

Dey macha...why you want to spread hatred in this section huh?? dont you know that this is a travel section for malaysia?????!!!! are you that stupid?? you can get reported for this you know?? why must create an uneasiness among us here?? if you just hate malaysia that damn much..then you are welcome to buzz off from malaysia!! go and find your suitable country that dont have anything to hate from!
if you hate the current government so much then create your own political party and vote yourself to lead the government la!!
yes i do agree that malaysia do have some ugly flaws..but still if you are msian..you still lives in peaceful right?? you still be able be mingling withall the races in harmony, right?? find that speciality in other country...you wont!!
so shut up! |

I have read some of the answers here, and frankly, I don't understand. Corruption, racial descrimination, media control and so on and so forth, are not Malaysian problems. They are global problems. They are part of our human tendency and not government issues. I'm not Malaysian myself but I've been reading a lot about Malaysia, since I'm hopefully going to study there. I even saw some programmes on TV dedicated to the development and achievements of Malaysia in the past few years. Honestly, I am amazed. what Malaysia has achieved in the last 20 years, a lot of countries could not achieve in centuries. Every country has problems, like one of our ex presidents said " A country without problems is not a country...And thank God we don't have any problems..." hehehe.
The bottom line is, Malaysia in improving quickly, and a few years ago, there were bigger problems Malaysians were facing. Now these problems are a thing of the past. The issues that our friend stated in his question, are faced by every country in the world, even the most advanced and democratic ones i.e: USA, UK, France and so on.
I hope things will get a lot better in the future. Take care all and God bless us everyone.
P.S: One thing I don't like about Malaysia, is the price of cars. Why on earth are they so expensive? hehe |

Yes, well, true, we all like this and that so much, but when do we dare to speak our mind about something that bothers us... so this might be a maybe harmless exercise in venting our frustration. I think in the end we are all happy to live here, but there are those nagging things we are not allowed to talk about... and for me it is really racist discrimination, as comes through in other posts. I live in Sabah... nobody in Peninsular Malaysia really knows how far this issue goes here, to a point where the natives (inclusive true Malays) are already in a minority in favour of Muslim Filipinos and Indonesians... But what can we do about this? And that is an issue underlying all our problems, because we, the rakyat, don’t have much power to act!
But in Sabah, we tend to look at the bright side of life. If Sarawak and Sabah had joined, in 1963 (the year when Malaysia as we know it to-day was formed) any of the neighbouring countries things would not be as bright as they are to-day, even if Sabah is now Malaysia’s poorest State. Oh, and one thing that also bothers me: West Malaysians, especially students, never seem to connect Sabah and Sarawak to Malaysia, but think these are some obscure countries on some mystical island where people live on trees… Don’t worry, we don’t bear no grudges towards any of you, the politicians and their education system are to blame for this one!
Uh, that was good to say! Thanks for this question!
Have a nice day!

i got loads of political critiques to mention in here!!!! i love your Question thanks for the brilliant Question!!
lets see where do i start. (i love the holiday attractions n the shopping centres)
what do i hate?:
- the fact that we call it a democratic country when there is no bloody jury system practiced in our local courts! The main key aspect of a democratic country is representatives of the public participating in our judicial system! and our government suspended it because when the govt goes on trial under the jury system, there is a slimmer chance of them winning against anyone from the general society. no fair huh?
-the fact that roads cost millions to build but billions to repair!!! and its all tax payers money but someone gets richer out of it! if that were to happen in any other democratic country, you will see demonstrations occuring n the govt will fail to win elections at the next round of polls!!
-how about the fact that we have a very big Klang river running right smack thru the middle of kuala lumpur but its forever dirty, smelly and brown!! if you look at countries like singapore, New zeland etc.. when they have rivers, they clean it n maintain it, place ducks in it.. make there river activities for tourist like punting in the park etc!! where has all the creativity of our leaders gone to??
-what about the fact that the unemplayed dont get paid in malaysia but the unemployed in the UK get to collect a checque every month (unemployment fees) and are really taken care of by the govt!! it seems like our govt only loves those with money to look after them!
what about the fact that a perodua Myvi (thts a car) was promised to the first (dont know how many persons) to register to the new IC (mycard) but was never fulfilled. Like dont make promises you dont intend to keep right?
-and the whole bus system throughout malaysia?? you call that transportation? only the rapid busses that goes to and fro the lrt stations are reliable but thats just 0.1% of the busses in malaysia!!!
-what about these blood sucking taxi men who think they own the law by not using meters!! there is a meter for a reason!! what on earth happened to our consumer rights? malaysians have none?
-and what about these million and one mat rempits running around? no one knows what to do about them.. loosing control over leadership more like it! just dont let them renew their licence ever!! send them for National Service camps or something, not the poor SPM school leavers! mat rempits need NS more than anyone else! they obviously have nothing else better to do!
-what about the tangkap basah raids that we keep hearing about.. hello!! thats not the worse thing occuring in malaysia u know! why bother curbing the small issues when we have Thai, Russian, Phillipino prostitutes loitering around!! Stop the intruders then focus on the funny folks having a lil fun and getting caught.
-what about our ex-PM who ppl disregard like he had done nothing for us. no sense of gratitude at all! ever heard of respecting your elders?
-watch Youtube there are alot more things that goes on n are more controversial about our malaysian politics.. i can go on n on but.. im tired of typing!! |

the government can resolve outstanding issues with singapore.ie
the bridge, airspace, ktm land, cpf savings of malaysians, water.
i do not understan why this has been going on for many years |
|

Why So Se rious?
 |
i HATE most is the person who asks "what do u hate most about malaysia?". because he himself knows well that our govt is very very sensitive to any opposition ideas, discussions.
And even if we express our anger here, no citizen will TAKE ACTION. and whats worst, is that, that person will be tracked down for creating havoc.
Cheers !! LOL |

- Too much separation between races.
