Whatever fireworks you do buy is up to you. The main thing you need to look out for is that the fireworks are relatively 'safe.' Please use them in a safe manner as I don't want to see or hear on TFC NEWS about a penguin losing some toes because a firework went off as soon as it was lit.
This APPLIES to everybody "have a safe New Year Celebration.

Here are some fireworks we use every New Year:
- fountains! some jumbos and sputniks
- roman candles
- lusis
- pop? it comes in small boxes
(super safe...for everyone, really)
- baby rockets/kwitis
- trumpilyo (like in All-Star K! hahaha...)
- crying cow (astig, every New Year...kami lang meron)
- whistle bomb (just one, super lakas nian)
- piccolo (bitawan mo agad, pumuputok agad)
- Judas' belt (ingatz! maybe this year, we'll not use it)

those are our usual fireworks every New Year...just be careful!

The first thing you must remember is that, depending on your state/local laws, certain types of fireworks may be illegal. You should do your research and learn what your area does/does not allow before purshasing any type of fireworks.

That said, most people believe that the bigger the firework/the higher it goes, the more dangerous it can be. This is not necessarily true. Provided that you have a wide open safe place to ignite them, air-born fireworks (which can be ignited from far away with the use of a fuse) tend to cause less damage and injuries than on-the-ground fountain/shower fireworks or low-flying pin wheel fireworks. These can be especially dangerous if you have pets or children around, but are in and of themselves a huge burn hazard, as the sparks are being thrown much closer to the audience.

Talk to the employees at your local fireworks store, they can advise you on how to properly rig fireworks to be set off from a safe distance by fuses. A few yards of fuse is relatively cheap, and deffinitely worth the safety.

super-lolo... oh!!! how I wish I was home (in the Philippines) for the New Year... we used to get a lot of fireworks and all... and oh, what about 'sinturon ni Hudas' (Judas' belt), that's a good one too!

try buying the "dragon fireworks" ... different sizes and prices ... usually cheap but entertaining. (best bang for the buck in my opinion)
