Corruption, the bane of third world and developing countries, is caused by several reasons. One of these includes low salaries and high cost of living, which forces a person to resort to corruption to feed his/ her family.
The second reason is false pride: By accepting bribes, corrupt people believe they are buying a good life. On the contrary, their reputation is tained severely.
Third reason: Peer pressure. A junior in any office cannot refuse to accept part of a bribe, especially when forced by a senior or group of seniors and other employees around.
And then of course, there are vices such as womanizing, alcohol or drug addiction, gambling etc. |
