Samoan, Hawaiian, etc. But I have to admit I have heard Filipino's claim to be everything you can imagine...I hear them say they are Japanese, Hawaiian, French, German, etc. They will be whatever benefits them at the time. |

I have been mistaken for an Asian (East to SE Asian) ethnicity anywhere I go. I have even been mistaken for being a local Panamanian when I was there. It has happened to me in all areas of the world when you speak a bit of the the local dialect. Even a local Polynesian too!
But it was the funniest when children in Arctic Canada we were not one of them from another island. My friend did not like it and was so offended. She commented she was not that ugly. lol
But I told her to look at the young kids. Some of them were very pretty. The old folks must have not aged well due to the harsh conditions living north of the Arctic circle. |

I am Filipina (by heritage) and I am as brown as my fellow Filipinos. But where I am, there's only a few Filipinos. The Hispanics here are few too but they outnumber us so local residents would lump us all in one basket - we are all Hispanics in their eyes. |

In America Filipinos are often mistaken for Mexican because they don't get out much and they can't tell the difference.
In The Philippines Australians, English, Kiwi, German, Swiss are all mistaken for Americano.....because they don't get out much and can't tell the difference.
For someone who's ever been to The Philippines it's easy to tell a Filipino from the others. Likewise, if a Filipino ever been to USA it's easy to distinguish an American from the others. |
