i don't like to depend on any foreign substance to stimulate or slow me down.
Quitting is hard, there's this withdrawal syndrome, but that can be supplemented by eating sunflower seeds whenever there is the urge, there is a substance in there that is not addictive but imitates the properties of the nicotine. However, be slow on those seeds, they are fattening if taken excessively.
and have an objective for stopping, like doing it for God and asking His guidance.

The truth is, the people around you (family) are in more great danger from the second hand smoke you're releasing. So better stop now before it's too late. Second-hand smoke is more dangerous. So if you don't care about yourself, start caring about them.

By-pass operation which my father undergone just last year of July 2007.We all thought that my father will be taken away from us that time since there is no assurance that operation will be a guaranteed success.

Thank God he has given another chance to live.That cost us a hefty amount of money.The good thing the company shouldered most of his expenses that soared to a little over a million.

Continuous medication and follow-up check-up is a must since life expectancy of these people are predicted to be less than 10 years depending how religiously he is at taking his medicine and living a healthy lifestyle after the operation.

Your health, your kids, the cost...those don't matter.

The only thing that matter is to realize that smoking is not a pleasure anymore. It just seems like it because it feels so good. But in fact, it's not pleasure....it's really the interruption of the pain.
It's like if somebody would torture you, you would feel good when it would stop.
When you're not smoking (you're eating, sleeping or at the movie theater....), you hurt because of withdrawal symptoms. Your body is screaming for the nicotine fix.
Then you light up and it feels so good...but it's not pleasure...just the interruption of the pain.

One day, you realize you don't want to feel that pain anymore.

It's not only dangerous to your own health but to people around you who can inhale the smoke. Just remember that second-hand smoking is more dangerous and may lead to lung cancer as well. If you're not afraid of endangering your life just do it for the sake of your loved ones who may inhale the smoke most of the time. You can do it gradually. Goodluck.
