They are two differnet countries. Japan is a small island while China is a giant country in Asia

One major difference, they are different countries. Second, Japanese people speak Japanese, and Chinese people speak Chinese. Their cultures are different. Their form of government is different. One is a Communist country, and the other... I forgot what it's called, but they have prime ministers, emperor, and is militaristically controlled by the U.S. since Japan's WWII defeat. In Japan, there's more rock bands, and in China, there's literally none. Japan's manga is much more popular than the Chinese comics. There's hundreds of differences. Do you want me to list more?

Politics aside & the obvious things such as language etc, the biggest difference I see as a foreigner having visited both nations is Etiquette. I know you don't want to hear this but in Japan, when I go to the subway station there is no pushing and shoving to get in or out of the train. In Shanghai, you have to use brute force to get out of the train because people will rush in to get the last spot to sit...bad you cannot stand for 10 minutes?. The train is fast ya?.

And while traffic is bad in Tokyo just like in China, the use of the horn is minimal while in China, its almost mandatory. And red means stop unlike in Shanghai where red and yellow still means go go especially if you are on a bicycle. It drives you crazy sometimes trying to cross the road.

Plus the cleanliness is miles apart. Japan is one of the cleaness countries I have ever visited. And what's up with the spitting, I heard from Shanghainess that the spitting is only done by Xia Wu Ning.

The one common thing between these 2 nations is the love for cigarettes. Everybody smokes, in meeting rooms, restaurants...just about everywhere.

Historically, the Kanji Writing System was imported from China, but as time went by, kanji writing evolved into a part of the Japanese Writing System by using the borrowed ideograms to indicate pronunciation.

Although Japanese use Kanji characters as much as Chinese people use, Japanese people use less Kanji characters comparing to Chinese people.

Even if you look at some of the Japanese culture, there are some adoption of cultural and religious materials from China too. For instance, Chinese herbal medicine is quite popular in Japan.

Today the Japanese are more collective in thinking rather than the Chinese. This has turned out to benefit Japanese society and nation as a whole. One small example: Japanese are scrupulous about keeping their back alleys clean and tidy - i think it is exemplary thinking.

The language for one thing of interest. Chinese is relatively easy to learn and Japanese is a little more complex. Korean is the most complex to learn of the three Asian languages. The Japanese enjoyed the highest standard of living in the mid 1800s. They believed that their land was a gift from the Gods. Hope this little bit helps.

China speaks Chinese. Japan speaks Japanese. China is older than Japan. Many of Japanese culture was originally adapted from Chinese culture. Kanji is basically a form of Chinese characters. And also, they have a grudge against each other (because of the war). There's billions more. To generalize everything: they are two different countries! ^_^

Japan center is current leader of world technology, usually offer the latest technology months or years ahead elsewhere in the world. is a big island, but is alot smaller than china, they speak japanese, however early japanese use chinese then edit make its own language. japan hate chicken, japan eat non cook raw seafood, (sushi), japan legalist porn, anime tc.. japan martial art is diff than chinese base (katana, china is kung fu base)

China is next super power, much superior militarty force than japan, has nuclear missile, populartio is nearly 10 times of japan, chinese langauge (maradin most speak in the world, chinese love their chicken then anytthing else, porn is illegal to produce in china,
