Average is just average, some people are later and some are earlier, and they can keep it untill they find a right one. I really don't like people or media give teens pressure to lose it earlier.

On average, between 17.5 years and 19.4 years and for some reason, it has something to do with breakfast:

"The study included about 1,500 respondents, and concluded that while Japanese middle school students who ate breakfast lost their virginity at age 19.4, those who skipped breakfast had sex for the first time at age 17.5."

No word on whether those who lost their virginity were treated to breakfast afterwards...
