Mainly it's because during rainstorms or even drizzles, you stand a larger risk of getting struck down by lightning if you are wet and in the middle of an open area, like the beach. Also, rainwater is different in concentration than the waters on beaches and pools, and you run the risk of getting chest colds from being wet from the rain, as opposed to just bath water. I actually heard one mother say during one time I was on the beach, "dali, sumilong kayo, nakakapagkasakit yang ulan!" (hurry and get out of the rain, it can make you sick!).The rain water is higher in acidic compounds, as far as I can remember, and not only will it be more hamrful for your healthy, some find that rain is also a bit more harmful on your hair, which if you will observe, might start to get sticky if wet from rain.
Third possible reason is the person bathing just doesn't want to get wet from the rain. @_@ Kinda like somebody who pauses from eating just to take in "pampagana" tablets. Hehe. |

Everybody knows that the answer is "because they don't want to get wet"
Really when you think about it, it doesn't make much sense does it but you see it all the time.
This just has to be one of life's mysteries. |

Because lightning and floods are inherently dangerous and it is time to get out and take shelter at that point. |

i don't, unless wind accompanies the rain. it gets colder and the tides usually comes in and the water gets murky. |

a possibility of thunderstorm occur when it rains, a very big possibility of being Struck by Lightning.
When lightning strikes, the electrical charge can travel through the water.
People, when struck by lightning, can receive an electrical shock and may be burned, both where they were struck and where the electricity left their body. Being struck by lightning can also cause nervous system damage, broken bones, and loss of hearing or eyesight. |

It's fun swimming under the rain. I continue swimming as long as it's not raining hard. <*-*> |

Yeah it's like here at the hospital where I'm currently employed. I used to work at the heart station where I had a bloody-idiot-of-a-co-worker who would wake patients up in deep hybernation in the middle of the night so they can orally take their sleep medication.
Go figure! |

when thunder and lightning are first noticed, people should get out of the water as a precautionary measure. water is a good conductor of electricity. lightning's behavior is random and unpredictable. so we should have a conservative attitude towards it. it is even recommended to remain out of the water until thirty minutes after the last thunder is heard. |

It is because when the downpour comes and you're in the water, the scene around you turns blurry. It is well and good when the sun shines. When you get out of the from diving in seawater by the beach, and break the surface, you have clear bearing of where you are. But when the rain comes, you kinda lose your bearing. It gets scary. I get out of the water when I feel as though there's no one there but me cuz I can't see all the other brave guys above who are still there, as they claim. If you were still there, you could have told me! |

The only time I have ever been made to get out of the water when it rains is if there is thunder. Remaining out of the water for at least 30 minutes after the last sounding is advisable too.
If people run for cover it is usually because they are the ones who aren't swimming or they don't want their belongings to get wet. |
