Are you asking for a geographical description or a socio-political one?
Both seem to be answered in the lot.
Geographically Pakistan is a country in South Asia, bordering India at its northwestern border. It is also a mountain state, as it is in the foothills of the Himalayas. On Pakistans other border you have Afghanistan.

Here is the socio/ political answer: Pakistan is an islamic country, with strong cultural ties to both India and Afghanistan and has constantly armed conflicts with both countries.
At the moment Pakistan is in the news a lot because the current military regime was supposed to change the power to a democraticly elected government. The election was supposed to be in the coming week, but the opposition leader, Ms Bhutto was killed last month. The new election is set for February. But where the country will go from here ... who knows
