It depends what your age is and what interest you both. If you like to see traditional Thai life, go to Chang Mai, Chang Rai where you can see the hill tribe people, take an elephant ride through the jungle, river rafting etc. If you want to see the modern side, like bars, lady-man shows, discos etc, go to Phuket, Pattaya, Bangkok. Pi Pi is nice for relaxation, beaches and scuba diving. So much choice and have a good time if you go. |

I agree with Anne B.
Bangkok is a bustling place but if you have never been there - then wipe any pre-conceived idea of what a city is like. It is NOTHING like the western world city.
There is SO much to see and explore in Bangkok. And shopping is fantastic.
Have a bit of Bangkok - THEN, do go to the other places. |

I would say Phuket, but not the main beach. A small beach town called Karon Beach. Great beach and good people. |

First of all you must visit Bangtok and stay at the Princess Panthuwan Hotel which is linked up with the MBK shopping mail. You will be able to do all your shopping there and use lots of different eating places and watch a film at the great cinema that they have on the top floor. That's what I do and I am a frequent visitor to Bangkok and never tire of this place.Of course if it is a first time for you sightseeing is a must and you will find many interesting places in your guide book. You will need about four or five days for a first visit. After Bangkok you then have many choices such as:Koh Samui which is a short flight Phuket and Pattaya etc;I usually go to Pattaya because I always have a wonderful fun time.I have been doing this trip for over twenty-five years and always enjoy seeing all those happy smiling faces and I have made lots of friends there.I am doing my next trip in November right through to the end of January. As you can gather I am retired but when I am there I feel like a young woman. It must be the wonderful way of life and the climate.I strongly recommend it,Good-luck wherever you decide to go and happy travelling. |

Depends! You did not specify your age. You did not specify time frame. The time of the year is critical. Mid-March to Mid October should be avoided from Bangkok south because of heat and rain. South has beautiful island, with snorkeling and scuba diving. Awesome beaches and very clean water. Many answers posted are good. Lots of great things in Bangkok and with the metro and sky-train it is so easy these days to get point to point. Wherever you go, north, central or south be sure to get a traditional massage in the same room with your partner. They are awesome. Also get a foot massage at the end of the day if you have walked a lot. North country is hilly and cooler. Misses and I prefer south from November to February with at least a week in busy Bangkok. If you shop, go to the mall across the street from Siam Square for the best prices in town. Don't buy off the street for clothing. Pat-pong even though a red light district needs to be seen at night when the vendors are there. We never had any bad experiences but one time is enough. Put blinders on when passing the go-go bars. |

Being a couple avoid places like Patpong,Pattaya (near Bangkok) and Patong (on Phuket)! Sorry they all start with a P...but are places full of Bargirls/Hooker's etc. Thailand in general is beautyful and it also depends how long you stay but would suggest one week cultural(make a small choice since Thailand is quite huge) and the next relaxe like on Kho Racha or a beautyful resort on Phuket. |

Phuket is good and has some beautiful beaches and coves. We also liked Koh Samui if you avoid the busier ends of the island. If you want quiet and like scuba then it has to be Koh Tao. |

i go as a couple in our forties and have been many times.phuket is my fav as it is not so in your face as pattaya.you can take a taxi to place like Karon beach which is lovely or if you want to experience the mad side of Thai get a taxi to pa-tong.i have just come back from pattaya and although i am glad i saw it i now feel i will stay in phuket next year and that way i can have the best of both worlds! phi phi island is beautiful but not much to do.everyone who goes to Thailand will always go back and for all the poverty in Thailand they remain very nice people but like any other foreign place you have to have your wits about you.enjoy x |

I always go to Pattaya. There is so much to do. It's very lively but there are great places to go. Nong Nooch is a fabulous garden area with animals, there is an open zoo just outside Pattaya where you can drive through the animals and even do a night time safari. Also I would take a trip up to Sai Yok National Park where you get to stay on river rafts, ride elephants, float down a river on a raft and visit Hellfire Pass. It's a humbling experience.
Happy holidays. |
