Why do you think it is of any concern to go to Malaysia? Its a clean country and though it is muslim, but its not like in middle east. Malaysian dressing is typical jeans and t-shirts. Girls usually put on spaghetti straps on or sleeveless. There is no such thing as you have to wrap your head up, unlike many americans think. Who cares what they think. Most muslim Malaysian women don't even cover their heads.

For summer travel ,stay on the west coast of the Peninsular Malaysia.; Work yourself down from Penang Island to Kuala Lumpur to Malacca then to Singapore. Have fun.

depends what u want out of the trip....if u want to visit the beautiful islands then stick to the east coast but if u want to shop or enjoy malaysian nightlife then come to KL

The public toilets over here isn't really that bad compared to the ones in Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam or China... but you never know what wonders you may come across from time to time. Election is around the corner, so maybe the government will set up a 'Special Action Team' for lavatory services... hehe...

Well, public toilets aside... the police stations are another nuisance. Malaysian polices are rated one of the worst in the world, just for your information. If you are ever in trouble, remember to get to your nearest embassy as soon as possible. You might still have to encounter those menaces but at least, you're safer with your embassy papers or officials.

Avoid traveling alone as much as possible in secluded places especially in the city. There are a lot of perverted freaks out there who may end you up as the next 'statistic' (most Malaysians don't really care) of rape-murder victim (or if you're just plain lucky), you'll get robbed or mugged instead. Its just common sense over here, but the possibility is higher if you're anywhere in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru or in certain places in Penang.

Well, have fun and enjoy the sun! Don't worry or have too much expectations because a lot of things may not appear to be what it seem once you are here.

Last but not least, taxis are really expensive... and for a fact that Malaysia is lacking of efficiency in public transportation.

dont ever go to the public toilets . Im a malaysian and i dont go to public toilets unless i cant hold anymore . there are only a few mentioned great public toilets . there is one in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman or Tun Razak , either one , i cant recall . u can also go to KLCC's public toilet . oh and if you cant stnd and need to pee so hard , i am putting my money on Petronas for having the most clean toilet of all gas stations :]

Johore Bahru. Even Malaysians themselves avoid it. Too much crime and totally nothing to do. Dirty place with little things to see or do.

2: the summer, i'd say beach around west coast ( its monsoon season then )
3: Fraser's hill ( boo, nothing there, supposedly "relaxing" )

Basically you are can go anywhere. At the time of your planned visit, the weather in Malaysia is just fine , off raining season, so you are free from flood unlike in the end of the year. Therefore just go anywhere.

In general, try avoiding deserted and dark alleys. These places aren't safe as they are the homes of drug addicts, homeless people who may harm you. If you from a country where public toilets are clean then try to avoid going to one in Malaysia or you'll get the shock of your life.

we wen't all over and had no problems, just remember it is a Muslim county so be sure to dress appropriate unless you want some dirty looks..
