Recommend the following:
Pulau Langkawi - An island north of peninsular Malaysia. Clear water, nice beach and plenty of duty free beers. It's a resort island, so you may expect to see quite a bit of tourist.
Pulau Pinang (Penang) - Another island up north of the peninsular. Modern city with access to the resort beach. So, you can enjoy your pinacolada in the day time and party in town at night. Strongly recommended if you like to experience local food.
Raub - Get a jungle hike in the National Park herel. It's a rain forest and it is no walk in the park. For you if you are an adventurous person.
Pulau Redang and Pulau Tioman are some of the islands that you may want to consider. these are resort islands.
My preference is always Penang.
Good luck! |

Need to set up base in Kuala Lumpur.
Great clean and safe city that will allow you to explore the cultural diversity of Malaysia. Much to see and do from here including visits to Islamic Mosques (Masjid), Hindu Temples (Batu Caves), and Chinese temples. Great food from all three cultures. Best part is that there plenty of things to see close-by for day trips - Malacca, Genting, Bukit Tinggi, and Kuantan. Also, easy access to an airport for a trip into Singapore, Langkawi or Penang. Finally, stay in a hotel - can get really good value for your money. |

Kuching is awesome. You can spend a full day at the Cultural Village (see link below) and another full day just walking around and exploring. If you booked a round-trip air ticket AFTER you get to Malaysia, it will be very cheap. Try Air Asia for amazing prices. Spend 3 days in Kuching, 2 days in KL, and 2 days in maybe ... Malacca or Penang -- Penang is touristy though.
If you do not want touristy at all, then go to Kuala Terengganu. It is "true Malay." I can highly recommend the Angullia Beach Resort in KT. It is rustic (thatched huts) but with NICE bathrooms and air con. In the city itself, the big market is AMAZING. |

Try penang... stay by the beach... the grand plaza parkroyal is a very nice hotel. If you are travelling anytime soon it should cost you around 200-300 MYR a night, as the school holidays are well over...
Call the hotel to make reservations, you will get a better rate... thats what I did.. before I got a better rate than that advertised.
If you are going to be in KL city itself, you would be spoilt for choices... as there are many hotels available.. KL hotels are cheaper during weekends... whereas, Penang hotels are cheaper on weekdays, as KL caters more for the business crowd. Stay in KL... you have a list of hotels that you can get from the websites.. dont; stay in subang/sunway etc.. as the cabs there tend not to use their meters and may overcharge. |

kl, penang and johor bahru quite expensive. I also visited tioman and langkawi.. I can’t afford (luckily.. company trip)
I think pangkor, teluk chempedak, and bukit larut better. More cheeper with good view.
One more thing, please do not stay in hotel sri Malaysia.. worse!!. |

I suggest you try Micasa Apartments. It's situated next to Menara See Hoy Chan. Their one bedroom costs RM 500 p/ night while their Deluxe room goes for RM 1,300.
It's located not too far from KLCC, but if that does not meet your budget, try the Swiss-Garden Hotel at Jalan Pudu that offers a family package for RM 399++ p/ night.
You may also try budget bed & breakfast lodge around KL. Ask/ check with the local tour agency. |

As a Malaysian i could commend Kuching. It's siituated in Borneo Island(east Malasyia of Malaysia). It's also the capital of East Malaysia. From there, you can see a lots of historical site(from the ruling period of Rajah Brooke). It's about 1 and a half our if you travel by plane from Kuala Lumpur. If you want to save money, you can just travel by Air Asia. It's much cheaper than Mas.Booking the air ticket online - www.airasia.com.my
You can stay in Longhouse Hotel if you don't mind. Always makes your enquiry at the Sarawak Tourism booth or at the airport service counter. Wish you'll have a nice day in Malaysia! |
