Which US presidential candidate do you think most Filipinos would more likely to support?

Obama or McCain?

Personally, McCain just looks too much of a doomsday advocate than anything else. I think mah boy Obie would do a much better job at the White house and with international affairs. Although I do smell another Bill Clinton-like sex scandal coming... but who doesn't cheat on their husbands/wives these days?

I just hope we don't get bombarded with them "paint the white house black" jokes... it's getting playeyed out.

Cathleen... when you say OUR country... which country would that be?

As a disclaimer, Filipino citizens cannot vote in US elections, so our opinion, however, compelling, is completely irrelevant to the outcome.

Most Filipinos, especially the old school types, would not prefer Obama, purely on the basis of his race (half black). Aminin. It's all part of that "fear the blacks" mentality our former colonizers embedded deep into traditional pinoy culture. I on the other hand also do not prefer Obama because of very different reason. He as a first term US senator with no prior Federal government experience is simply not experienced to be president of a country as influential as the US.

I also do not prefer McCain because he will simply extend the status quo of the present Administration. He will just get the US in worst trouble in terms of foreign relations and the economy. True to traditional republican rule he will continue to ignore the voiceless American poor and continue the exploitation of its middle class. The rich elit e will continue to become exorbitantly rich at everyone else's expense.

Hillary is my choice but that is now a moot point. Hillary was the only candidate with the ideal combination of pragmatic experience and effectiveness in relevant American issues such as healthcare and foreign relations and being a true idealist in such topics. But alas, this election has shown that most Americans (e.g., the middle class) left and right still do not possess the appropriate level of political intelligence and maturity to know what's good for them.

Oh well. But I cannot say the Philippine public are any better off. Ayyyy.......

Filipinos has a great tendancy to vote for the wrong person - look at what they have put in office there

in order for filipinos to have a stronger peso, mccain should win. the republicans continued involvement in iraq is the reason for the steady decline in the value of the united states dollar. a weak dollar means more purchasing power for us filipino tourists in america.

First , Filipinos do NOT vote in US elections . Second , why would you get bombarded with any so called jokes . If you are in the US and can vote , why are you asking this question in this section as most dont have a say in the politics of another nation

Definitely and hands down, McCain because he shows true qualities of a leader and have been through many learning experiences.. He became a POW so he does know hardship and have developed understanding about people and relationships.. It's good to have a real military experience and in combat before becoming a president so the realism is there..

Even if a rabbit becomes the US President, nothing would change. The Philippines will always be "influenced" by US interests. Politicians are politicians, they would say anything just to get your vote.

obama because the Philipino is more aquainted with rap music which is mostly black

I'd say McCain...

I daresay that with the elimination of the woman contender, Filipinos are now split between the two, and they can go both ways.

If Clinton won, the Filipinos would have voted as a block for her, being a matriarchal society.

Let's just say you're asking - "Which presidential candidate do you think most US-based Filipinos (i.e., eligible to vote too) would more likely to support? - Obama or McCain?"

During the primaries, most of the emails circulating among Filipinos here were on Clinton and Obama. Could be a very rough indication that we tend to vote Democrat. If the trend continues, then the pro-Hillary might end supporting Obama too. We'll see.

I think Obama has a better chance of developing better ties with countries that did not agree with the Bush administration.

Obama could do some great things with global politics if his administration play their cards right.

U+2640
Obama.

most white people discriminate the blacks.

that's why their reign should end now.

well, it's a good thing that you're thinking global.

but you should be more concerned about our country 1st.
