The only budget hotel I ever stayed in Malaysia was called Hotel Tai-Ichi. And that experience was like a living nightmare. But I usually dont stay in budget hotels and perhaps, it was only my perception that it's the worst. The best hotel I had stayed in KL was Hotel Concorde on Jalan Sultan Ismail. So, it would be wrong to compare the Tai Ichi with Concorde.

I have no wild plans to stay at the Tai Ichi again, though it was fairly clean and conveniently located on the Jalan Bukit Bintang. The hotel was not really a waste of money considering how much I saved in commuting to the Bukit Bintang area daily.

i think its bukit merah laketown resort.. my family paid almost rm 600 per night.. but, the toilet cannot be flushed, no water spray, wiped our 'thing' with tissue paper only.. the pillow was damn smelly.. thank god we arrived at night and checkout early morning..i'd never go there again..

Gurney Hotel, Penang. From Hotel Manager , CAfe Manager and all the staff semua tak guna. Room unkempt. WC tersumbat. I was left standing for more than an hour at the counter waiting tobe seated whilst people came after me got their seat. Complained to the staff and they replied it's none of their concerned. Finally marched into the cafe and got a table with piles of dishes. Asked them to remove it. Manager and staff buat tak tau. Last last aku buang semua tu atas lantai. Manager bent down to kutip semua pinggang mangkuk tu. I enjoyed my food with my nieces. I stayed on because of my nieces. Then when I went to get more food, my nieces were told by the waiters to finish their food fast because they were about to close the cafe. I came back and verbally bashed the staff and manager. Then walked off not paying a single dime. Wrote a letter to the Corporate Manager. Got an apology but no compensation or complimentary. Its sister hotel is Northam Hotel close to the Penang High Court complex. That hotel belongs to Berjaya.

bella vista hotel..formerly known as tiara hotel..aka haunted house for me..hehe..that was such a creepy hotel that was full with a gloomy atmosphere 24/7

i heard a rumor about a girl committing suicide in one of the rooms in that hotel..

I wouldnt call it my worst experience. In fact, i still go there sometimes. But still, I had a experience during my wedding reception 3 years back. It a 4star hotel near Teluk Cempedak (it was my stupid idea to have it with sunset view). We had our akad in the morning and the reception during dinner. My dad booked 10+ rooms for the distance relatives and by right, we would have a complimentary suite where we can get dressed up for the whole reception.. but it seems that the hotel management totally forgot about it. We ended up, sharing in my auntie's room... well, u can only imagine the commotion that happened later. This situation did not affected us (me n hubby) too much coz we were too tired to be bothered with such momentary blunder, but we wonder how a hotel could trouble the paymaster (ie, my parents..)

once when i go to Port Dickson, i stay at Marina Resort.. it was totally pathetic, service is very bad!!!

Universal Love+Truth

The smaller, cheaper and older hotels at Fraser's Hill, Genting Highlands and around the country generally discourage one to return, due to damaged or lack of fixtures/amenities and poorer service. But then again, u get what u pay. Better go for medium-priced and above, accomodation.

I got to do my own house-keeping... I got to shower in cold, icy water... Complaints written to them has turned deaf ears.. Fine!! This is the last straw. They have been black listed.

BlackBerry, yes, shang next door is really a good place to stay, but of course you got to pay a little bit more. I stayed there before, at least 7 times, and till today, I still love it... the golden sand beach.... (yeah)

The palace hotel ( used to be under Berjaya) in Kota Kinabalu..situated near Karamunsing. That hotel is haunted!! no kidding...oh and the food suck.

let me share my worst experience with you guys..

1) Parkroyal Penang- (claim as 5 stars)

Browse from their website and i was interested with their so called SPACIOUS Deluxe room and booked for 2 nights stay during peak season. Arrived very late at 7pm and was given an impression that the deluxe room will be on lower floor. Request for an upgrade to higher floor but only Grand Deluxe Room is available at the time. Paid RM100 extra just to get to stay on the higher floor. Check in to the room, to my horror, the room was bloody small!!!!!! does not worth RM650/room/ night!!! called and complained to the stupid manager and he cant do bloody anything. i told him that their website is misleading about having that Grand deluxe is much more spacious than the normal deluxe room. in the end, he didnt even give me any courtesy call to say sorry coz he's unable to upgrade me to higher category of room which is spacious.

on the 2nd night, they have the cheek to slip a note requesting me to checkout strictly on 12 noon due to high occupancy eventhough i've checked in very late on the first day! request falls on deaf ears!..food was bloody expensive! imagine a plate of fried rice will cost you RM40.00 & fresh orange juice was RM28 a glass!!!! gila!

please do not stay at this resort..its better to waste your money at the shangrilas which is next door to the parkroyal in penang!

2) Sunway resort & spa, PJ ( 5 stars)

Booked their club room after looking through their website. Given an impression that the clubroom will be given extra benefits & pampering. after check in to the room, to my horror, the so called Club room looked like a very outdated!!! even a 5 stars hotel clubroom does not even have a couch??!! carpets seems like never receive any vacuul treatment, the minibar fridge is empty and simply nothing to shout about! oh! yeah their check-in time is at 4pm!! so again, i arrived pretty late and it was around 6pm..at that time i was so bengkek, felt like cheated..i called the manager and explain to him my dissatisfaction..can you imagine that he can actually chuckled and laugh like i was making up a story..i was so mad!..i asked him to take me to their business centre and open up their website to show what type of clubroom that i saw in it..suddenly he said that its not a club room..its an executive clubroom!! oh come on!! am i blind? or dont know how to read?..coz its clearly written underneath the picture saying its a clubroom..still he denies this and offer nothing include an apology for this misunderstanding!

its okay, nothing being done, eh?..the minute i came back home, i'd emailed their General Manager and complained
A-Z..guess what?..he offered me a complimentary stay for
another 2 nights at theri executive clubroom!! ahaha..i still have the voucher with me..i'm gonna use it for my upcoming anniversary!..lol

anyway, my advise to you guys..if you plan to stay longer than one night at any hotels, please, please never pay in full..only pay for one night in advance or better still if try to ask them if you can pay upon arrival..check on the room before deciding to settle in..some hotels do mislead their customers, hotel overbook and last minute didnt get any room (hrh shim) or getting stupid room like mine!..

but in my case, i do get something in return! takder la aku ngamok sangat after that..lol

a budget hotel in taiping called casuarina inn. have u heard about it? neither did i......

me and the family went for my cousin's engagement party..... i don't justget why but the person who booked the hotel for us actually come from very educated family and have lots of money...
why on earth they chose such a dilapidated and haunted... yes i said haunted hotel just to save a few measly ringgits? the rooms had an old feeling, very musty and the bathroom were scary.. the floor tile felt like it hadn't been scrubbed in decades... and a guest actually checked out a second he walked inside... claiming there's a dark shadowy figure sitting by the TV... and at night my mom actually saw little kids playing around on the balcony... late at night, come on?!!
room service? what room service... they're all went home by 5pm!

the best hotel i stayed was in a pondok in Kudat, Sabah..... beautiful view and friendly, helpful locals, free food, white sandy beach, ... didn't need any crappy room service!

Muar Rest House in the year 2001.

Checked in at around 6pm,
no bulb (no light ) inside bathroom, no replacement,
no water heater,
a little bit smelly(window can`t be open)
dust on the bed.

Those 5-stars ones. All show only. Check in time is 3.00 p.m. Fixed. Cannot change, even if room is available. 2 star ones got good personal service. Manager carry bags for you ! Can check in any time. Also no need booking fee or deposit.
The worst hotel I stayed in want to chase me away. I have not checked out, but they ask why I was still there ...One hotel I book a suite for 4 people. They showed us a small deluxe double room (the lowest class they have) and when I protested, the room boy confirmed THAT is a suite....that hotel is 5 star...

Not really extremely bad but my recent stay at Bubu Long Beach at Perhentian Island wasn't really that great. There were red ants inside the room. Even after complaining, they were not able to get rid of it. Rooms were not thoroughly cleaned either although towels were changed but sliding doors at the balcony could not be locked properly. Disappointing. But island is a nice place though.

Another one was at Mutiara at Taman Negara, room were really dusty that I got relapse of asthma, toilet windows have gaps that many flies flew in at night. Meals are not cheap at the hotels as well.

I think both hotels management should do something about the state of the hotels. Personally I wouldn't go back there.

Hotel Istana KL. I've made bookings a week earlier and was given a confirmation number and when the day comes, after an hour standing at the check-in counter watching the smartly dressed pondan guy tapping on to the computer, I was later told that they did not receive my bookings.

As it was a peak Pak Arab season, they probably gave my room to these people. The hotel probably thought that why should they give a room to the locals when they can give it to the Pak Arabs and cheat them to pay double the price per night?

You can't imagine how fuming I was and I wasn't alone. There are two German backpackers receive the same fate. Babi punya Hotel Istana! I made scene and give them some language in both languages and I walked off.

Until now, even if Hotel Istana wants to give me free suite for one week, I'll just spit at them. I even blacklist this hotel for my annual Buka Puasa gatherings with my staff.

Langkasuka resort in langkawi..

the beach at resort is dirty, the water polluted.
the food is ok,but not much variety..
the worst thing is the bathroom..
at first we didn't see anything wrong with it until we finish showering..
the water leaked and flooded the whole bathroom..and room too!
when we demand to change to another room,they claimed all rooms are full.

but this is not the worst hotel ever..
the worst ever is in indo,where room service took forever to arrive..and it arrived cold!
then the last stalk was i encountered thieves in the room..whom turn out to be the chamber maid.

Hebat or not you tell me?

ADD : they refused to give refund.
they gave complimentary 2 night stay at the SAME FLOODING room.

I don't stay in the hotels, but i can say the worst website ,where in a former prime minister of a country could post such a destructive and diviisive materials is the Mahathir Iskandar Kutty's one.
