There is no South or North Korea, just Korea. Only dogs say South Korea.

Most people in America are Wapanese, so a majority would say Japan without even knowing much about South Korea.

I'm a non-Korean and I love South Korea. The music, fashion, idols, electronics, people, culture, language, movies, food, etc. It just seems so great. Heck, whenever I hear Koreans talking when I'm in public I feel so happy, haha. Do some research and maybe you'll like it too. Sometimes people ask me, "Why do you love Korea, you're not Korean." It's just so hard to explain, like I can't condense everything I love about it into one short sentence. It's kinda silly that my non-Japanese friends love Japan but no one asks them why they love Japan. I think most people say they like Japan better is because they haven't taken the time to actually get to know the country as well as they did with Japan. Also they are more exposed to it with anime and video games with Japanese songs. Even shows like Heroes, has a main character, Hiro, from Japan, so I can see why they fall in the love with Japan. Maybe one day Koreaophile will surpass Japanophile...probably not..

That is an apples to oranges question. They are both good on their own merits and both bad. They are both very technologically advanced and have great food. They are also both xenophobic and have a superior attitude towards foreigners and those they perceive as less educated. I lived in both countries for many years and personally prefer Korea over Japan. The main reason for me is that the people just seemed warmer and generally friendlier overall...especially after a few drinks, than the Japanese. The cost of living is also less in Korea than in Japan...especially the cost of transportation and food.

Japan is great too but they had a time when they had a bad history.
But, they are both unique countries!

Its South Korea..... what better? in wat category? if ur asking bout the ppl.. its korea, bout the culture and history- south korea, technology-japan, language-south korea even though japan's language is easier to speak but SK's language is more beautiful (in my opinion), entertainment-definitely korea, place-korea, food-some ppl might like japan's sushi and others but i prefer spicy food-korea, fashion-both,haistyles- korea...

but japan is pretty awesome too. the cherry blossoms and the scenery are gorgeous and the food is AMAZZING ^.^
still,,,i'd take kimbap over sushi any day :)

ppl prefer japan more because it's been more exposed with (america) and there was alot of good stuff like anime, technology, cars, games, and culture/history that caught america's eyes. but korea is an quiet self-sustaining country with an awesome culture, people, food, and TV shows. i prefer korea b/c it is who korea it self that makes me love it.

If ur talking about better it's japan but korea is gonna stand up and one day be a proud county with amazing things to help their county become better.

exactly, they are both different and both have many things that are a credit to them. Huge culture differences, most ELECTRONICS that we use come from japan and most things we see on tv have been edited and done in korea (like the Simpson's) you cant compare them, the languages are both beautiful as well and the people. They re Alto better than north america that's for sure.

personally I like Japan better(even though i am korean) becasue it is cleaner than Korea.

I'm Korean and I'd say as far as quality of life is concerned, Japan would be better than South Korea.

But personally, I wouldn't want to live in any of those countries.
