Fortune, definitely. I never cared much about fame. Who wants to be "as public, as a frog"?
"How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!"
---- Emily Dickinson
All I need is moolah... lots and lots of moolah so I can be an idle, rich girl. :-) I've always wanted to be a beach bum, actually --- a rich beach bum. |

Fortune begets fame- (bill gates, donald trump)
fame doesn't necessarily beget fortune (kevin federline etc.) |

Fortune.
Not only does the company manufacture "Hope", but "Winston", "Fortune" and others as well. Why, I'd die smoking if I want to, when they finally decide to close down all cigarette factories in the whole wide world!! |

Better to have fortune, to be in a position to help other people. Fame satisfies only a selfish end. |

neither. if your famous, your whole personal life is layed out for all to see. think about it, you get a DUI, your all over the cover of every magizine in the nation, of every store in america. you can never make a mistkae without the whole world knowing about it. yeah you get money, but you never live as a normal person. Fortune? well money doesn't mean anything and you don't take it to your grave. so whats the point??? money is somethng that never makes anyone happy no matter how much they have. people use you for your money, or you get it stolen, someone kills you for your money, its all jsut a little too much. even if none of that stuff happened, It would be nice to have a few extra things. but it would never fully satisfy exactly wha tI want, and it would get in the way of my whole life, personally and mentally aswell as it would spiritually. call me a freak, but I'd rather be wwho I am now. a somewhat happy person. not an overwhelmed one. |

fortune.
Fame doesn't necessarily mean its fame for something good. You could just be notorious. Fortune will lead to fame but fame can't lead to fortune :)
Also, if you lose your fame, you'll still be rich. |

Fortune is much better than fame. Fortune itself makes you famous because of money. You might be included on TOP 500 riches man/woman on Forbes magazine.
And for fame, it's just an honorary compliment of what you accomplished. Your name might be posted on magazines, newspaper and a tv appearance & tv guesting. But it took only for a short period of time. You might be just a part of history. |

fortune because you have perks of fame (luxury and well..$$$), but none of the downsides of fame (tabloids, lack of privacy, more pressure ecx.) |

fortune, being humble and quiet is best, with fame, which can be a double edged sword, can bring you more fortune, or with time people, such as ones who want to see you fail, will do everything in their power to bring out the worst in you.
so fortune is better |

I agree with all the other answers. However, if you have fame, you can attain fortune. Movies stars and recording artists do it all the time. |

I would say fortune, because if you handle your money right, it will last. Fame is nice, but can be fickle. The public can turn on you in a minute. |

Fortune, what's so funny about people recognizing you everywhere if you don't have enough money to live a nice life? Besides, fame kills your privacy and money can buy almost everything you desire. |

Fortune. Money can ruin you, but if you're smart, it is freedom.
Fame is the loss of anonymity, the loss of freedom, tempting at times, but really the last thing I'd ever want. |

Fortune. Because life is so much easier with than without. Fame is fleeting and seems to get into the way of reality. |

they're both kind of equal. Either one of them could go down the tube at a moments notice. If I had to choose, I would rather have fortune b/c fortune=fame; although, neither one makes you happy for very long. |
