don't have to think, the answer is
PHILIPPINES! (next to hongkong and china) though thailand is amazing.
i've been to asia for 5 times and philippin beaches are soooooo wonderful! boracay can beat all. even better compared to some beaches in australia. if you want clubbing, shopping and all kind of fine restaurants, manila has everything on that same with bangkok. manila don't have beaches but you need to book a flight outside to see more of the philippins. visit cebu, it's like manila. beautiful! when i was in the philippines, so many foreigners same with thailand but thailand has more. philippines always have bad news on tv so foreigners get scared to visit that country but i did and i don't regret! i agree on the english speaking category, philipinos are easier to understand. they love foreigners there. what i like most in thailand is the temples because i'm a fan of temples but it is true that cebu can compete with that they have in thaialnd. |

what do you want to see? if you like temples, go to thailand, philipines has no temples. between the both, i will choose philipines. don;t concentrate on manila. the nice places are outside the philippines capital city. boracay beach is better than all beaches in thailand. above all, filipinos speak a lot better in english than thais. i had a hard time. |

the one who give explanation has only thailand on it. im sure she hasnt visited the philippines. how can you say which is better if you havent seen both, right? well i'm new here with answers so i don't know how people answer here. in my opinion, ive visited both places on the same year 2004. both are beautiful country and people. philippines food is better and people. they speak english so well and i was shocked. overall experience, i also visited indonesia the year after. whenever i think of asia, i always have philippines in mind. it gave me the best impression. i just love the country. not as clean as the US, it is true that they have bad government, and so??? you're not gonna live there. you are just travelling. so much to see. i cant get enough of the provinces and beaches too. visit palawan, it's outside manila. hollywood stars go straight there. |

Philippines, i live in. For the philippines, you gotta go to the right places if you want to have a great time. its better to do research on both places. because both will be great experiences, and interesting too. |

I would say visit them both..These two countries are kinda near each other anyway(about 3 1/2 hours apart by plane) so why not visit the two..They're very much different from the other--culture,sights,dining etc so it'd be such a damper if you don't get to see the other. Enjoy! |

im from the philippines and i really would choose philippines!!! i have been to thailand but i cant understand people there!!! poor in english! yeah i agree with some poeple that thailand have legal sex workers, so most men(foreigners) would choose thailand!!! wahaha... dont go to Manila... visit the provices...
Boracay - heaven!!! very nice white beaches!!!
Cebu - lined with idyllic white sandy beaches and pristine clear waters, fantastic diving grounds evidenced by the proliferation of resorts which offer luxurious accommodations, excellent dive facilities and the services of competent dive masters and dive guides.
Surigao -blue waters, pristine white sand beaches, beatiful coral and rock formations, caves and underwater caverns. Surfing capital of the Philippines.
these are 3 of the beautiful 7101 islands in the philippines!!!
come and visit us!!! |

Thailand if you want to get laid and catch some "****"ake!.On dude commented on beaches and places to visit are better in thailand! He probably just stayed in Manila! Visit each provinces in the Philippines and it feels like you are in Puerto Rico or Cuba, so you get both East and West. Beautiful Hacienda"plantation houses" in Negros Occidenal, Pristine Beaches in Palawan, Muslim culture in Mindanao, American and European class malls, where can u get that in Thailand, sure they got temples , but check our the Buddhist Temples in Cebu! ok ok well im bias cause im 100% pinoy. but Ive been to Thailand now if you want to see hard core kick boxing then Thailand! But if you want to join me in my beach Cabana in Negros Occidental Philippine Rocks just ask the E channel .. they think Boracay ROcks too!! PEace |

I like Philippines... Philippines have lots to offer.. Here in Thailand.. every temple are look all the same and its very difficult to communicate. |

Each country has its plus and minus points. Thailand is more tourist-friendly, as their tourism board is much, much more organized than what the Philippines has.
Not true about the prostitution issue. Thais are just more in-you-face kind of selling. Manila is teeming with them as well, just more subtle.
Both can boast of its beautiful beaches. Local
food is different too.
Filipinos speak better English, true. So it's easier to communicate with them. Downside, be prepared to be harrased by touts offering all kinds of assistance, services and wares. Be wary, you might get duped.
Just go to both so you can see for yourself.
In Thailand, go to:
Bangkok
Phuket
Chiang Mai
Koh Pangan
In the Philippines:
Boracay
Puerto Galera
Baguio
Palawan
Bohol
Both are good value for money.
Suggest you get yourself a copy of Lonely Planet Thailand and Philippines to take a closer look. |

Both countries are beautiful. It all depends on the activities you like.
The advantage of Philippines over Thailand is the warmth and hospitality of the people. Majority speak and understand English so, there will be no language barrier. I was in Thailand and had really difficulty in communicating with them. Even at the hotel, mall or restaurant. End up doing sign language. Goodluck for your decision. |

Thailand is beautiful and cheaper. The Philippines right now has so many unrest. The economy is bad. It has a lot of crimes. And it's expensive because the value of the dollar is down. Your money will go further in Thailand. |

well i recomend you visit the Philippines because thailand sucks ive been there before people speaks a silly language they are like always fighting and want to kill each other its like let me give you a phrasse i heard " waaaya yachoo kwailahhhh yaaiiikahh myawww!!!" now if you just hear it in spoken language its really bothering and can give you headaches. and as for the Philippines people are very hospitable and educated in asense that they are capable of communicating in English as their second language. |

philippines, definitely! i've been to Thailand two years ago and my! it was very much like the philippines, except for the fact that Filipinos speak excellent English and yes, even branded items are cheaper in the Philippines. but i don't recommend manila if you wanna go sightseeing... manila is for shopping only. if you wanna see extraordinary places, visit the islands... palawan, cebu, just ask your tourist guide and he'll tell you what place to visit. the beaches there, especially in palawan, are simply marvelous! and boracay too!
question to GUAPA O... are you from Palawan? you've mentioned something about Asian Tour and.... i just remember somthing. |

I have been to Thailand in 1985 and the Philippines 3 times ....2001 x 2 and 2003.....Thailand is more exotic and more foreign than the Philippines, and the food is certainly better and more healthy. Both countries have very freindly people, but the English in the Philippines allows one to get to know the people much better, and is in some ways more relaxing than the language difficulty in Thailand.. I think the Philippines is cheaper now, as Thailand has become more popular, and you encounter more foreigners in Thailand. Cheaper hotels are of better quality in Thailand. You can go to more places in the Philippines, where as in Thailand, there are fewer places with facilities for tourists, but the ones they have are excelant and well promoted....for an older male, looking for female company, I suggest the Philippines, as the women there are less interested in money and more interested in making a relationship with a foreigner, and its not about money. Bangkok is hotter and more humid than Manila and I was more confused as to where I was half the time than in Manila...I liked the bars better in the Philippines and the music was better and more western....Thailand takes tourism much more seriously than the Philippines, and do a better job, but things are more laid back in the Philippines....Overall, I give the Philippines my nod....not for a special exotic experience for just for overall place to go and have fun and meet some great people.
Men like both countries, most women dont like either place! There are just many beautiful women there to distract thier male companion.

both are beautiful, and while the sex industry is in-your-face in both countries, don't be fooled by these first impressions, they really have much more to offer: beautiful scenery, friendly people, cultural variety, etc... |

And I agree with your friends. Thailand is better than the Phillipines because the government, tourism industry as well as the naturally beautiful settings, locale and people are all geared to make a holiday for a foreign tourist a memorable experience.
As for other countries in that region, they may not offer the same facilities and experiences. In the end, its the memories and experiences that we take home with us.
The city, Bangkok is faced paced, with great history, museums, palaces and shopping districts, open markets and nightlife.
Outside of the city, are a few islands dotted around Thailand, Phuket Island, for an example. There, Patong Beach has a row of exclusive resorts and hotels on beachfront properties with breathtaking views. There is a host of water based activities for the adventurer and the same beachfront properties turn into nightclubs late in the evenings. Along the inner lanes there is turn into decidedly risque joints from strip shows to pole dancing, no less by lady boys, something that is uniquely Thai.
Food is great too, with fish being the most widely used ingredient in a variety of innovative and delicious ways. I still remember the grilled whole fish topped with fried onions and served with tamarind sauce. Simply super.
They are also, of course, renowned all over the world for their luxurious variety of Thai massages, head, body, feet, back. Or all of it. Spa treatments are great and very relaxing too.
Thailand has a lot to offer, I was there myself five months ago and I would urge you not to miss it.
Have a blast, stay safe. |

Definitely Philippines. You know why? Its so hard to communicate to thailanders while Philippine people knows more English, and hospitable enough to cater your needs.Been there, done that. |

I havent gone to the Phillipines yet, I have gone to Thailand though. Thailand, to me, reminds me of Vietnam in a way, probally because they are right next to eachother. Thailand is kind of boring in a way, But I think you should go to both, exploring is always fun, plus Thiland and the Phillipines are problaly a few hours apart, by plane. |
