merrier in terms of noise - new year's eve, with all the fireworks and firecrackers!!!
merrier (happier) in terms of being with loved ones -christmas eve, with the sharing of the noche buena and the exchange of gifts!!! |

Personally for me, Christmas is much merrier. (Still a kid at heart, or for those who argue that fact...at times still 'immature').
But probably for the youngsters, I think Christmas is much merrier for them. (You don't get presents on New Year's!)
While New Year's is for the adults...reason for them to go out clubbing and drink. (Then you become "mature", where you'd rather spend NYs in a more quiet manner). |

Christmas day!!! Are you joking?? New Years day means nothing to my family! My sister and cousins all go out to parties etc. I'm only 13 so can't go. Christmas day is the only day where we all sit down and spend the day together. Last year, we spent New Year's driving around in a car to see if we could find the Fireworks by the River Thames! (we live in London, England). We had to do the countdown with the radio...ery exciting stuff. so much traffic though, we couldn't even find the bloody fireworks in the end.
Well hope you have a good New Year! |

I think I like both.
Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus and New year celebrates the making of the new year.
Final answer no changes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Christmas is presents.
But I am from Russia and when I still lived there they open gifts on New Years.
But I LOVE New Years! I see one of my best friends from long away and we do silly stuff and junk food and we get to dress up in nice SHOES and other stuff!
NEW YEARS!!!~ |

I like New Year more than Christmas, to be honest.
In Christmas, there are gifts, Simbang Gabi, children's carolings, and Noche Buena!
In New Year, there are fireworks, noise barrage, and Media Noche!
The only thing I hate the most about New Year is that the resume of classes is near!!! And I can't take it!!! haha |

Merrier by way of alcohol consumed and noise produced would have to be New Years, but
Merrier by way of the whole family being involved, Christmas would win hands down. |

The entire week - from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1 - is the merriest days of the year, esp. if you're in the Philippines! |
