Bukit Timah, that is if you are rich enuf to buy a landed property. You have all the privacy and peace as a landed property owner yet a few minutes drive away from Orchard road.
There are nice hangout dinning place such as Dempsey road, Botanic garden. There are gourmet supermarkets and fine dinning restaurants to fulfill your snobish food craving.
What's more you will see good looking angmohs men and women hanging out that area too~! |

In term of property pricing and accessibility, District 9 and 10 are still the best. Near or within CDB. However, you must be prepare to cough up a large lump sum of $$$ to purchase private properties there as there are no public housing there.
Personally, I feel that there are a few factors that contribute to a good living area.
They include these important factors:
Amenties
Accessibility
Future Development
I believe that upon the completion of the circle line, the next most accessible area should be around dobby ghoat area - 3 MRT lines (NS, NEL and Circle), few shoppings malls and hotels, high amount of buses passing by the area, near town uni (SMU) and slightly outside Orchard Road.
There are quite a few area that are under development for residential near dobby ghot - you can look around that area. |

I would vote for Marine Parade. Beside having it's own shopping mall, Parkway Parade, It's also minutes walk to the seaside (East Coast Park). Minutes drive to town via ECP. Many nice eating places, such as Katong, Joo Chiat, Siglap and etc nearby.
Where in Singapore you could find any other place which is near to nature & town, with many nice foods around, and it's not too expensive to stay? |

orchard road. it's busy and located right at the usual tourist route. can't believe how that little district could be really busy when we got there for some shopping. i mean, the entrepreneur in me just wanted to stay there and take advantage of the popularity of the place.
and also, more importantly, singapore is pretty much the switzerland of asia. it is important economically, but not politically. you'll see that it is a very stable country. great place to do business if you ask me. |

Hm, I'd choose the town area. And that means somewhere near Orchard. |

I will vote for Tiong Bahru area.
Why? Coz itz minutes away from Orchard, Chinatown and Bugis. And itz near the Outram MRT interchange too. The buses here also can go to any part of the island. Not forgetting there is famous Tiong Bahru Market where ppl would love to flock here for good food. Sentosa is just wihtin a distance too. What more do u asked for? |

If you like the hustle and bustle, Orchard Road! River Valley, Somerset is great for you. It is expensive there too. |

Orchard. u have everything there but it'll be too noisy cuz of the cars & the cost is simply 2 x. but a district 9 or 10 (abt the tanglin area) shd be good. hses in Singapore r going up (price) so if its way 2 much 2 ur budget, i tink u better go and live in Serangoon/Jurong/West/East.... Actually ALMOST everywhere u stay in Singapore shd be quite convienient |

Singapore is a very small country, where ever part of Singapore you stay, i guess it makes no difference, if you intend to get a house, go to 88db site and look for the residential property for sales at your preferred area |

Sentosa Island (if it's possible)
I mean, what else do you want? Great location, great condition of living, holiday island, free gambling, free drinks. 'nuff said. |

Well, I guess Orchard?
There are many shopping centres and hotels, and it's in the heart of Singapore.
Of course, if you would prefer a less expensive place, you could always choose the East Coast. I live there, and you get to go to the East Coast Park. At Joo Chiat, where I live, there are also many eateries! It's also very near to the ECP. |
