I have, rarely, marked a "thumbs down", but only for insulting, crude, rude, or just plain stupid answers. I have never marked one of yours, so far as I can recall.

Likewise, I do mark a "thumbs up" for very good, informed, correct answers.

It's simple. They want their rating to go up so they put a "thumbs down" on every answer except their own. When it comes to voting for a question, if there is a tie-break, then the one with the fewest thumbs down wins.

I was out for 4 days and noticed many things have changed. Sadly, your observation is also true to me. That's why I do not go back to my answers anymore.
My number 2 ranking here was even deleted for reason I do not know.
Anyway, I'm not young anymore to challenge people I do not know. I will just continue what I'm doing here.

I wonder too. We all experience the same thing and it's even sadder to think that they give thumbs down on the answer you ever thought to be sensible. Even the best answer gets thumbs down. It's some kind of a depressive matter to all of us because it seems we can't satisfy people with the answers given.

i've been experiencing the same thing. i was even thinking of posting another question on the thumbs down issue but since you brought it out, maybe we should deal with it now. since most regulars even newbies are already affected, as in affected..

not I GAMEPLAN last week I had 15 thumbs down and only 6 answers on one question the other question had 13 thumbs down

Last week, I had a grand total of approximately 200 thumbs down, no kidding--just check out my answers. I have a short list of suspects, want me to email 'em to ya?

Lat week, Pres_Marcos succinctly admitted right here to having received email from another answerer here espressively instructing him to thumbs down an answer--which he gleefully did. It doesn't take a genuis to extrapolate that this same requester may have also told many other answerers to do the same dirty deed. Does anyone want to know who that requester was/is? Drop me an email.
