I think women are better drivers.
They can drive men like crazy.

If you look at insurance company statistics you'll see that women are involved in far less accidents than men. That may be because women tend to drive more prudently than men. |

Women are statistically cautious but vulnerable to accidents. While men are agressive and risk takers. They can't stand other drivers and don't have enough patience, resulting to road rage.

men but also men get to car accidents more than women. Although men are better drivers but they are also high risk for tickets and accidents. Women are not the worse drivers but I admit they are slow drivers and i hate it. It takes forever for them to make a turn and theyre always on their cellphones or putting lipstick. |

Safety driving goes beyond mastery of the rules of the road and the basic mechanics of driving. Defense driving aim is to reduce the risk of driving by anticipating dangerous situations, despite adverse conditions or the mistakes of others.
If the premise for a better driving is safety, then the females are better drivers because:
1. Defensive driving: majority of women
2. Offensive driving: majority of men |

I've been the innocent victim of six car accidents....only one, the least damaging, was caused by a female. In fact, it didn't even damage either vehicle. I told her she could go on her way if she wanted to.
Here comes the thumbs down.... |

No offense to lady drivers...
but men are indeed better.
and they do not know how to troubleshoot, to change tires and they clog up the streets.
peace =) |

there's just something about a lot of women whenever they drive:
they think they always have the right of way
they don't do an area check when making turns
they don't really look at their rear view and side mirrors
they don't use signal lights
they lose their focus on the road when they see something nice
they're indecisive in those situations whether to give way or not
i also don't mean to diss the decent female drivers, but a lot of incidents and accidents on the road happen to women because they missed out on something. ("drive lang ng drive, ika nga") men are the better drivers because we generally have a better sense of psychomotor skills than women and it translates to better handling of a vehicle. |

i have read a study conducted about drivers and it says in overall that men genereally are better drivers because men can do multi task while women focus on their driving.
If there is an instruction in driving " don't talk to the drivers while in motion" that would particularly be pointing to women. |

I'm a man and I was a first responder and I can say that 14 out of 24 accidents would be the man's fault. So I say it's both men and woman and today with cell phones and all it's even worst out there for accidents. People are not paying attention to their driving their to busy texting and it's dangerous and sooner or later it will catch up with ones. I've seen in my 28 years of responding, texting is a major cause of accidents. All it takes is one second with your eyes off the road and bang it's over.
Don't get me wrong there are other factors that causes accidents but phone is a big part of it. |

are we talking here about driving skills of men versus women?
then definitely men have better driving skills e.g. parking, overtaking, up hill- down hill driving, off road, trailing, towing etc.
but driving accidents comes with entirely as different factor- alcohol intoxication, over speeding/ racing, and pushing into the limits, not concentrating (SMS, watching etc.) anger and stress- you name it.
but who are better drivers? Men and women who value life and property are definitely better drivers.
happy new year! |

Statistics can be deceiving, up to you to judge. But more men die of accidents than women each year in America. See the article below:
http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/car-crash-men-woman.html
However, the article cites the fact that men drive longer and the conditions of driving are different. It also says more women are involved in minor crashes that do men. Besides, more men drivers use alcohol than women drivers.
In the end there are plenty of safe women-drivers out there. And more so with men especially those who make driving their profession. I am talking about truck and other commercial drivers who have CDL certificates. They are the ones who have advanced training in accident prevention, first aid and road safety. A man or a woman behind the wheel can be as dangerous as one can get. We should be careful when we see one display bad driving habits such as cutting one driver off, tailgating, aggressiveness, unnecesary hornblowing etc. for these drivers are the biggest accident risks. |

tactically speaking, men are better drivers than women, as you see, the statistics says that 14/24 accidents was caused by men but if we look at the percentage of how many women drivers we have then, there is much higher percentage value of men divers than women thats why obviously there are more accidents caused by men drivers than women. |

My opinion:
It's not the gender I guess. It is more on experience and the right attitude.

Drive like a woman
The truth about female motorists
By Emerald Salazar, Special to The Manila Times
"...Yet the old age stereotype about dangerous women drivers has been shattered by statistics. Male drivers have 77 percent higher risk of dying in a car accident than women. The numbers don’t lie. They prove that women are more careful and aware of their surroundings. For them, the car is tool for transportation, not an extension of manhood to show off and prove they are more powerful and street savvy than anybody else. Women drive without the attitude.
Women are also renowned for being gentler on their vehicles and for being more meticulous with their care. Being formerly female-owned is often used as a sales pitch for used cars. Fresh-smelling, clean and well-maintained cars that have known only a lady’s touch often command a higher price. Women are less likely to abuse a car or push it to its limits.
It’s time for men to shut up and drive. Or better yet let a woman take the wheel. "

I hate to admit it....
but.. it is still....
............the WOMEN! LOL !
---- I am hearing a dog bark!... hahahaha! seriously, I think it is still the men. I still hear myself call my brother to help me with my car whenever I am in car trouble. Until I find myself being able to manage my own car... it is still the men..
.... sorry girls... we have to admit it.. to be considered better driver we should know not just to drive but troubleshoot as well.

I think i came late, everything had been clearly said and valid points cleverly raised.
So i'll just ask the gentlemen here, if they could do a several-hour-drive in four-inch-heeled stiletto shoes..well, we women could :p |

WOMEN.
ohh i just remembered. haha.
i encountered this question in our psychology class.
i answered men because more drivers are men.
but when the results came out, the answer is women!
it was said on a conducted survey,
that guys are reckless and hot-headed.
well did you not notice that most overtakers,
are male! urgh. they like to cut co-drivers.
also in traffics, they won't let you pass their line,
though your car is already "naka-umang".
"pano, ayaw magpa-singit kasi baka maunahan".
well i understand them somehow.
it's because guys are more competitive.
also in race tracks, most racers are male.
i guess it's the so-called adrenaline rush,
which pushes them to the limit.
>> oh that's just my opinion. sorry. |
