I have to agree with Big P. Native Filipinos are almost spineless and don't really stand up for themselves. There is a lack of self esteem with them and don't want to mingle with other non-filipinos. |

I think the westernized filipino would be more honest & friendlier because they have seen & lived in those cultures where both these moral values are very essential to the lifestyle of a common man. |

you should separate being friendly to honest...because its a different characters if your referring to being friendly most of us are friendly native or westernized, but if your talking to the amount of people they meet i would say the westernized have a better friendly status as they were able to meet lot of people than the native who never travel outside the country, and being honest is an individual character that has nothing to do with being westernized or native... |

Not to be degrading toward native filipino's but I have associated with westernized filipino's and they don't have any inferior complex toward anyone who is non filipino.
Westernized filipino's have a healthy self esteem and don't shy away from non filipino's. |

There are attitude differences in Filipino's who have lived and worked abroad. They have been exposed to a different culture and witness a different way of living. I believe you would find people born in First World Country who have traveled a lot abroad or lived abroad have a different attitude than those who have not. You cannot help but grow when you have the opportunity to learn from other cultures.
I would also think that the Filipino who had the courage to become an O.F.W. would be more self-confident than a Filipino that would not go abroad to work. It takes a lot of courage to leave friends and family to go to a country to live and work where you know no one and have no support system.
I agree with some of the others honesty generally comes from the way you were raised. I have also known people that were raised in the most corrupt homes imaginable and when on their own lived an entirely different life because they were appalled by the corruption and dishonesty in their home. So I would hestitate to say a person is honest only if raised in a home that taught and stressed honesty.
The exposure to people of different culture in my opinion would naturally help you be friendlier because you would have learned to communicate and survive among people different from you. It possibly could help you be more honest in your daily life if you came to realize that people did not have to be corrupt to survive that obeying laws and constitutions and respecting the rights of others really does work. |

Westernized/modernized Filipinos tend to be friendlier because they've been exposed to many aspects around the world... they tend to understand under people, while the isolated ones don't have any ideas.. |

I truly believe that being "westernized" or just a plain Pedro does not have any bearing to being friendlier or honest to a Filipino. These traits spring from the basic character and moral make up of a person, he/she be a person of the world or otherwise. Friendliness and honesty comes from within and from the heart and the basic goodness of the person. |

We cannot say westernized Filipinos alone are more honest and more friendly. The same is true with the opposite. As because one westernized filipino cannot represent the whole. so is a filipino who only traveled outside the country.
we cannot generalized. |

HI, I assented fight not flight's opinion. Sense of friendliness and honesty don't necessarily go after the immediate environment or athmosphere of an individual. I guess it is a matter of breeding, bearing or attitude and confidence. Confident individuals find it easy to meet and engage with others, and speak their minds whenever necessary, and this does not exclude being honest persons. This attitude/behavior was cultivated and developed entirely on the person's upbringing. |

those who are experienced travellers seem to be more friendly.
honesty remains the same whether you have travelled or not. |

Both Westernized and Native Filipinos have different outlooks on being friendly and being straight forward.
The native Filipinos are friendly by nature, rarely being straight forward and most of the time they bit around the bush.
Whereas, the Westernized Filipinos who were born and raise and perhaps have resided in a foreign land is very straight forward to the point that the native Filipinos get offended without the malice of hurting them intentionally.
The OFW's in my opinion, cannot be categorized as westernized for the fact that they work over seas and not residing permanently in foreign land. |

People's honesty and friendliness are intuitional traits so are their negative opposites, regardless of parentage and where they are from.
To avow that a person's root/adapted environment is indicative of a favorable disposition might be a bit myopic.
A local pinoy is no better than a westernized pinoy and vice versa. |

A westernized filipino, like a showbiz personality would Swipe all the toiletries on an airplane(i,e, shampoo, lotion, toilet paper, cologne, tampon if the plane's engine would fit on her purse i bet she would have stolen it too..).... then upon her arrival at the philippines, she met a Native police officer...the pinoy native police officer...robbed the western exposed filipina actress! |

I would definitely say the native Filipino because they have not been corrupted by the screwed up greedy ideas found in other cultures. |
