"It's Pedro Xing-Hua, from a wealthy Chinese family. He is Chinese, he is Filipino, he is every nationality when he or she crosses the street." --- Former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza

It means Pedestrian Crossing. And if you think it's only in the Philippines, you're wrong. You can see that sign in many English-speaking countries, especially in the US. |

lol... He wants to run across the street.
I was wondering the same thing when I first saw it a few years back. I thought wow! I never knew that was the name of the street: Ped Xing with the green color signage.
Then after seeing a few of those on pedestrian crossings on Taft & Roxas Blvd, I got it. I thought who ever coined that must have thought oneself to be so smart. ha ha ha... I always associated X with Christ or Christmas.
Someone said it is in the States too... wow! I thought only in Manila. Graphic signs are more universal, are they not? English may be universally accepted but it is not the language of world streets.
Anyway, I for one am glad LA is not the mayor of Manila anymore. Avenida is open to vehicular traffic again instead of being a PED street for tambays and what not. Yehey! |

Pedestrian crossing
Pedestrian meaning someone walking and crossing meaning crossing someone off of your list as in killing them.
At least that is what most of the drivers seem to think it means. |
