There's too many heros of Singapore inclusive of Lim Bo Seng if you ask me.
All those who die or suffer for Singapore during WW2 are heros too.
(PS: I know the stories but I can't recall the names, sry.)
I think a heroine of Singapore that is not well known to us but to Britsh army is the Changi Angel. She smuggle radios/food rations parts to Changi jail for the British and was to made to suffer (by the Japanese) to reveal what she is smuggle. She kept mum and save those British army's lives.
Another is a female indian doctor despite the war is pending, she still insist in treating all patients regardless of races and danger she face. She was captured and ill treated by the Japanese for treating the common people, the Indians (who started off a small army on themselves to fight against Japan) and the British army.
For modern hero (those people who lead Singapore to where it is now), I will have to say there's quite a few - David Marshall and LKY are definately among them. |

I will say Mr Lee Kuan Yew but maybe not a lot of people might agree with me. He did a very well job with Singapore especially after the separation with Malaysia. Compare Singapore and Malaysia, you can see that we did not lose out to Malaysia and yet we are even better than them now. I am grateful of what Mr Lee did for every one of us. In the old Chinese saying, the earlier generation worked hard and laid the road for the later generation easy use.
But if your question is “Who is the National Hero during WW2 and sacrifice for our sake”, I will say Mr Lim Bo Seng.
Thank you. |

I can say that Singapore's national heroes are its citizens. Having themselves disciplined, they were able to raise their country from a poor to one of the richest.
Despite of a heavy population density, they were still able to manage their lives and make this Island City Republic sufficient for them.
How I wish that Filipinos would also be like them for us to be albe to soar up high like this little country of Southeast -Asia. |

Lee Kuan Yew.
Without him, Singapore won't be what it is today. |

I would say it's Our Minister Mentor, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Without him, Singapore won't be able to reach its full potential. He had brought us to a whole new level, a different genaration, a different era.
Thanks! |

I would say MM Lee.
I truely respect the man for what he has done for this country over the years. In a way Singapore is LKY and LKY is Singapore.
If you are asking about during WWII ... then there are a lot of people who have given their lives for the country and I would place all of them as my hero. My Grand father included. He died during the War and was shot by the Jap soilders. |

Well, thank you *very* much, jamesinna !?!
Now I won't have the fun of looking that one up !
O.K., so at least now I know who he is, I can check him out in Wikipedia and find out more, but, in the future, ***PLEASE***
wait more than seven minutes before you give the answer! :-)
Half the fun of Y/A, for me at least, is getting to research the questions I don't know. Makes it more interesting and I really enjoy learning new things about different countries and cultures.
All the best ! :-) |

I would say the Early Imigrant from China especially, but not forgetting the early investor from the West.
LKY cannot be attributed as the sole national hero (though he is the by far the best contributor) of Singapore, as the saying goes "one man amounts to nothing and All Men Amounts to All."
James C
p.s No Disrecpect to LKY, I Respect Him wth my all sincerety. In all Respect , i do not think LKY will want to take all the credicts also. |
