It's not clear, but we know he was killed in the Battle of Mactan. By exactly who we don't know, because initial news reports that came out were sketchy. But the killing was generally attributed to Magellan even though there were no witnesses to verify that, simply because he was the leader of the visiting team.

For one it WAS NOT Magellan.
Lapu-lapu and his men were responsible for killing Magellan.
Little is known regarding Lapulapu's life.

if you mean Lapu-Lapu the Filipino hero, he probably died due to natural causes or perhaps of old age. there is no historical record of his last years and days.

by the way, Lapu-Lapu killed (or at least troops led by him) Ferdinand Magellan.

LOL, Datu Lapu-lapu was the Chieftain of Maktan, known to Filipinos as the First Defender of Filipino Freedom, although technically, the Philippines wasn't the Philippines yet during his time. Lapu-lapu killed Magellan in a fierce battle in his island of Maktan, or Mactan, whose official name is now Lapu-lapu City.

The question of who killed him or how he died has been an oft-asked question by many. Little is told after the historic battle of Maktan or of how the lived on after Magellan.

I would content myself by saying he probably died of natural causes, whatever that may mean to you.

i don't think lapu lapu killed magellan... it could have been one of the native warriors, how the hell did they know that a spot near the magellen monument is the spot where he died? as for the idiots who think magellan killed lapu lapu, i feel sorry for your 3rd grade philippine history teacher.

Lapu Lapu died by natural causes in seclusion. After he was tagged as the killer of Magellan he went onto hiding in the mountains because the King of Spain was so furious of him and sent his best soldiers to the Philippines to capture or kill him.

Lapu Lapu was also wounded after he fought and killed Magellan. He washed his wound on the seashore, but unfotunately there was a storm that time and a big wave took him up. He was lost in the sea and no one found him since. After some years while his minions was fishin in the sea they saw a big , majestic fish which they are not familiar about some of them assumed that it was Lapu Lapu 'coz Lapu Lapu had been in the sea for so long so he'd probably turned into a fish. And they call the fish Lapu Lapu in honor of their Chieftain Lapu Lapu.

it's me, tarzan, who killed lapu-lapu. When he killed magellan in the island of mactan, long time ago, he proceeded to the mountain. there, i meet him and ask him if he is already circumcised, since he is uncivilized, he doesn't know that... my blade at that time had tetanus, so he was killed..... hahhahaha...
