Many in South East Asia don't know what countries make up the Scandinavian countries? Or where Belgium is. My point: "ignorance" is everywhere. UK is no different. You'd be surprised white Britain don't even speak proper english.
Personally I feel this kind of knowledge is next to useless. Why is it nescessary to know where Brussels is? It means little for a Malaysian accountant in Kuala Lumpur. Likewise a sales person in London would not need to know where Kuala Lumpur is located either. Knowledge if it serves no purpose is useless. |

As much as everybody wish their country is known, this unfortunately will not always be. Some countries are more know (Canada as opposed to Andorra). Others heard of but you cant really point where it is on the map (eg which one is exactly Tajikistan). Then it depends on who your friend met and asked.
Imagine asking a shop keeper in Besut where Wales is (any where exactly is besut anyway). I bet they wont know.
And darling, you are wrong. Malaysia is not ONLY between Thailand and Sing but the northern part of Borneo island too....you see? |

not many people are as rich as they can come to malaysia for sun bathing. if they want sunbathing they will go to Mediterranean sea.. its cheaper and nearer.. that's why they don know malaysia..
malaysia also dont ahve anything special and unique tat no country else in the world has.. except KLCC..
F1? many countries have F1, they dont care if they miss sepang F1.
Sunbathing? there are many many beaches prettier than malaysia's.. |

The Brits are bad at geography - just watch any quiz programme on TV and see how many people get the geography questions wrong! |

means they dont bother to learn geography. i agree with 2nd answerer, it's not worthwhile a human being for not knowing the existence of other country. |

Unforgivable. I think everyone should know every country, its location and its GNP or they are not worthwhile as human beings.
Usually it's the Americans getting cracks about being bad with geography. At least it's nice to know that the euros aren't keeping up with it either.... |

Malaysia was under British control but the people don't know where Malaysia is? Go back to school and learn geography books.
Last time I heard foreigners said that Malaysia is a state of Penang (country) too... So bad. |
