Inferiority complex?
Well, whatever their reasons are, like the previous user above... which government servant is really polite in the first place? |

It's called the 'intimidation' technique....for putting fear and authority into the speeches. Those whom are involved in or are accustomed to the psychology or human resource management is very familiar with this.
It can be neutralized by being even more rude or directly without fear request them to be more courteous and polite.
BTW-Practice at your own risk! I shall not be held responsible for anything that may happen to you.....XD |

That's a way for them to release stress, lol, considering they have to stand under the sun for hours. |

I think this is about all personnel in uniform - at least I have never come across anybody nice, except for Dusuns at immigrations in Sabah (and they are getting rare). They know when they wear a uniform there is no need to be nice, as mentioned in 'intimidation technique'. Plus, especially for traffic police, how would you react if an officer stops you with a borad smile, wishes you heartily a good day, enquires if you had the kindness to show him some proof of your authorisation to drive the vehicle you are in... still smiling boadly... uh... but it is true, they could show SOME curtesy, like not treating us like convict murderers when they ask for our licence... I always feel like they are going to handcuff me anytime and throw me into a jail full of rapists and drug pushers!
Is this in Malysia only, or all over the world??? |

Lazarus is correct. They were trained to do that and some may come out as being utterly rude. But there are some that are pretty nice also...
But if you think they are being rude, wait till you get stopped by JPJ officers. They are the worse and they can never take any explanation. |

its the mentality...but no doubt that some of them are nice & ok actually... |

Well, I certainly do not know why they do that, but most of the polices are very nice. Maybe you just got the wrong ones. Plus, they could've just been moody because of having to stand under the scorching sun all day and dealing with people who are sometimes rude with no reasons and sometimes can't speak BM at all. |

Of lately, The Malaysian Government has came up with a best solution for people like you to make compliants!! Please visit this government website http://www.pemudah.gov.my
and write in your complain at this web link> http://www.pemudah.gov.my/feedback_em_.asp
The idea for a high-powered taskforce to address bureaucracy in business-government dealings was first introduced in the Prime Minister’s annual speech to the Civil Service on 11th January 2007. It was recognised that a concerted cross-ministerial initiative was needed to effect greater improvement in the way government regulates businesses. To be truly relevant, it was also essential to have active participation by the private sector.
On 7th February 2007, the Special Taskforce to Facilitate Business or PEMUDAH (taken from the taskforce’s Malay name ‘Pasukan Petugas Khas Pemudahcara Perniagaan’) was established. Reporting directly to the Prime Minister, the team comprises 23 highly respected individuals from both the private and public sectors. It is co-chaired by Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia and Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Datuk Yong Poh Kon, President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers.
Terms of Reference
To review the status of the public services delivery system in terms of processes, procedures, legislation and human resource towards introducing improvements;

• To monitor the implementation of policies, strategies and procedures aimed towards improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the public delivery system; and
• To take appropriate action in addressing issues raised during Cabinet meetings regarding the public delivery system
Values
The vision of PEMUDAH is to achieve a globally benchmarked, customer-centric, innovative and proactive public service in support of a vibrant, resilient and competitive economy.
This vision is underpinned by the following values:
• A sense of urgency
• Proactive public-private sector collaboration
• Facilitation, not hampering
• No more regulation than necessary

They are not properly disciplined in academy, neither do they need to be courteous to their bosses - tax payers. Plus, they well know the reputation of the Malaysian police force has, why don't join the flock? They are not going to be penalised anyway. Wait until an independent police complaint board is established, remember making reports.
Laugh at everything they say, but still follow what they ask you to do. When they ask what you are laughing at, say "nothing" than follow to giggle. And laugh again. That should drive them crazy.
If that did not work, try speaking with extreme gentleness and smile to them alot. If that didn't work, ask for their numbers so "my sister can ask you out". And make them wait like semut di atas kuali. |
