For us Tagalog speakers, Japanese is an easy language to learn. Just look at the similarities of sounds in our respective alphabets. We practically use the same syllabication methods. Unlike the English speakers - so used with their phonics - for them learning Japanese is not that easy.

I'm proud of our OFW's, you send them to middle east and within a month you'll see them talking arabic with an arab. Same in Korea, Japan or Italy. Were probably a poor country but we are very talented. I heard it one time from a british guy as he was amaze on how quick the filipino learn arabic. Its not a secret its god's gift so we can survive from poverty. Arigato tomadachi... |

We have foreign language subjects here in the Philippines. Some schools teach Chinese (Mandarin), French, Spanish and Nihonggo.
I took Nihonggo when I was in 4th Year High School.

This strikes me as a little silly, but here it goes: if they are to survive in your country, they have to adapt to your culture and your language to some degree. They can hardly expect to make a living if they can't communicate. Yes, it is true that the phonetics of the Japanese language are similar to Tagalog, which may make the pronunciation much easier to grasp as well. |

The Japanese occupied the Phillipines during WWII. Could that have some influence? |

Time to learn any languages so you know what they are talking about. |

I think it's because we have accents that aare similar to the Japanese. All of the Japanese's syllables are equal and so are Filipino's. Since the Japanese occupation took place, there has been a lot of influences in the Philippines and also in our language. |

It is because the pronunciation of the Japanese syllables and the Filipino syllables are the same. Also we Filipinos have been exposed to a broader range of pronunciation experience due to our colonial past. |
