So, meaning if we all agree to your nonsense that makes us all a better person. Come on. I'm sure from where ever you came from, you too do have this kind of problems. No country is perfect. Many Malaysian doctors prefer to work in other countries probably the wages are much better than. And not many Malaysians are racially biased, but i can see you are by the way you post your questions it's full of hatred. I do agree as well that the Reader 's Digest don't lie, but as Superman said , if you do a poll tomorrow you will be surprised.

You are correct to a point about 'Reader's digest don't lie', but we all know how wildly inaccurate polls and surveys can be sometimes.

It wouldn't surprise me if they took another poll tomorrow and found out that KL is the friendliest city!

Malaysia is a complex country, I believe that it is one of the few stable multiracial country in the world. We may be racially biased, But it work for us, we leave in relative peace not like some other countries with a few races ..... staying together

As for Malaysia living in denial, on the readers digest report mention, well it all depends on whose points and whose values. Malaysian values differ from international values. Even among the races in Malaysia, there are different values .... We try to learn to live with it. eg. some malaysians do not shake hands............

And if you ask such questions you get answers like those from nowhereman_716 and Holyman. Understand that Malaysians aren't happy if you criticise them or disagree with them or just pinpoint to some of their mistakes.

If KL was voted 3rd rudest in the world it's not their fault in the eyes of Malaysians, it's all work of "evil foreigners". Malaysians are living in an illusion. And all Malaysians are racially biased because there are two major ethnics, both of them very different, coexisting in one place - one holding political power and the other one holding nation's economy.

Government is taking actions to change people's mindset. But at the same time all sorts of chauvinist programs are destroying their efforts by making people over-confident and arrogant and thus blind for the reality. Most of Malaysians aren't willing to improve. All they want to hear is that they're already good.

Another thing you have to understand: Malays only rely on their numbers in Malaysia. You see them very loud and proud when they're among their own people, but they quiet and humble when they are a minority. Displays of rude behaviour are product of racially mixed society and Malaysian double standards. When they imprisoned Malaysians for overstaying in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia protested, while Malaysians themselves not only imprison illegal foreigners, especially Indonesians and Bangladeshis, but they also cane them on their buttocks which is humiliating.

Another factor is absence of dominant civilisation: although Malays are Muslims they cannot be considered a part of Islamic civilisation as their development was independent from Muslims of Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Malays have never fully implemented Islamic legal system, neither have they known about Muslims' scientific achievement in Europe. Chinese presence is more recent and they have settled in already cultivated land dominated by Malays.

Malaysians believe that foreigners must love them just because they're Malaysians. They aren't aware that their independence was a result of good will of UK which found it difficult to maintain so many colonies after WWII so they have disbanded most of them, rather than a result of Malay struggle.

The answer to your question lies in Malaysian traditions. Malaysians are brought up constantly told that they're the best. But when someone tells them they aren't they are like a kid when you tell him Santa Claus isn't real. They go mad with you. They'll call you a liar and tell you to get out of Malaysia. I haven't seen any Malaysian being told to get out of UK or Saudi Arabia or US. Malays believe they're the chosen people (like Jews) and they've written 'ketuanan Melayu' (Malay supremacy) in their constitution.

Malaysians who are aware of the problematic are labelled unpatriotic. The cause of the problem is 'orang kita' mentality, which still separates people based on their ethnics or now more common - citizenship. Until they can't see their own mistakes they won't be able to improve. They'll keep on having problems until they blame foreigners for them. The fact is that Malaysian voice in the World is not being listened and even though Malaysia is currently the head of OIC, UAE people were laughing at Malaysian PM when he made statement that Malaysia could be a role model for other Muslim countries (GDP of UAE is about three times higher than Malaysian).
