One child policy exists and those who violated it received severe punishment. Although rules have been relaxed a bit for wealthy and those with political connection.

China can only have one child because of the lack of resources. Also the lack of land, yes china is large but they need room for farming, industry etc. they are overcrowded...

It's for economic considerations. Yes there are lots of people in china, but there is still also lots of land. China as a country wanted to be a more profitable entity, and under a communist system, that is difficult when your consumers far outweigh your producers. Therefor, they wanted to reduce the population, so that fewer people can enjoy the resources available to the chinese. When things reach a degree that the Chinese government considers stable, I would imagine that the rule will be undone.

because they have a huge population and are living so closely packed as they have too many people for their country so their government makes rules up about how many kids they can have to control population growth.

The population in China is too large.There's no enough resourse to support so many people,so the government carry out one-child policy.

Of all ethnically 'Han' Chinese, only 30-40% are allowed to have two or more children. The requirements? 1. If the parent was a single child in an urban setting, or 2. If the first child was a girl in a rural setting. The result? A net loss of 400 million births over the span of 40 years.

Actually, the wealthier Chinese can have more than 1 kid. My 2 female friends both have siblings. One has a younger brother while the other has 4 other siblings. According to them, in China, their parents actually paid a hefty fine in order to have more than 1 kid. The fine alone is more than a year's income of average family income. Since they're wealthy Chinese, money isn't a problem. Most peasants cannot afford to pay the fine so they can only have 1 child.

Because China is over populated and so there for they can only have one kid and they usally choose a boy and abort the girls they choose a boy because they carry on the families last name!!! Hope I helped!! :)

because at the moment it's approximately every 5th of the world's population is a Chinese

if they may have 2 children, 10 years later every 3rd will be Chinese

if your may have 3 children a family, then every 2nd person on the planet will be Chinese

but the territory of China is far smaller than the surface of Earth

Think of it as running a family: UK, US and other countries, have a family with about 10 kids. But China is a family with over 30 or fifty kids.
They do need fewer kids to maintian a living standards.

China is really crowed but by them time the hurricane stops they are gonna be a bit not so crowed, the hurricane has already killed about40 thousand people! Really sad

if they have a son, they can only have one child. if they have a daughter, they can have another child to see if they can have a son. as said before, to stem population growth.
