The reasons could be diverse, such as:

1. Follow tradition.(They want the marriage to be blessed, and since following traditions is considered good practice, they would hang up this sign in pursuit thereof, although probably they will simply lie there and rest, being so tired of following so many traditions earlier in the wedding.)

2. The man would like the world to know that he is a busy bee, potent and virile, thus he would hang that sign;

3. The girl would have the world know that she is desirable, and hang that sign, to say to the world her man desires her;

4. Both man and wife would not rather have the hotel staff know they are robbing them blind, and taking everything in the room.
