just in case somebody would ask your picture you're always ready or if you lost your wallet and somebody find it, then they know it's yours. not everybody there have drivers license you know.
about the dogs, we don't kept them in cages. we always let them roam around. |

mmm ok. Well, the pictures are because mirrors dont come cheap there... haha jk. Filipinos are among the collest in the world and they al know im joking about finance and currency.
My cousins only carried a form of ID for college and thats it, no other pictures of themselves. well.... one of my cousins had pictures of girls and such but, thats just him.
and as for the pets- its a choice of the owner. in baguio city, there were animals all over some of the neighborhoods. and NO, most Filipinos DONT EAT dog. |

hahaha! i dont exactly know why but maybe pinoys/pinay just love themselves--vanity. well its kinda good 'coz they have the confidence to do such right? Whose pictures are in you wallet and in your cellphone? =)
dogs are left in the cages beacuse most of the people dont know how to domesticate/train their dogs so they are unruly and kindda dangerous (they bite! LOLx). plus PInoys want their house to be very clean--no dog hairs on the floor and the couch. |

I am Filipina. I also keep pics of myself in my wallet.
I believe this is the case because we are a hospitable and warm lot. Give us a small bit of your time and before you can say "hey!", we'd be whipping out our wallet and showing you our pics from our childhood days to present.
As for the dogs in cages, if you noticed, most of us have small houses and no backyards, hence we need to keep our dogs in cages because we do not want to risk them biting anyone who walks by. :) |

well...not all.. maybe they're just plain vain.
and the they keep the dog in cages coz the dogs might bite! or they simply don't like the dog in the house |

Because Filipinos are totally hott, so why wouldn't they want to look at a picture of themselves all the time??
Sorry, I'm biased. My boyfriend is Filipino. And he's hott...but he doesn't carry a picture of himself, he carries a picture of me! |

hmm let just say that we are just plain conceited..vain,...or call it watever u want,,,hahaha,,,we just tend to love and adore ourselves,,,call it self-esteem..yadda yadda yadda,,,
as for the dogs..we just don't like those lasenggeros(those people who are too drunk to even think ...that can be found beside a store) to eat them..they are just plain stupid and jerks who doesn't know the difference between a pork and a dog meat..eew,, |

Filipinos love pictures! We keep pictures of ourselves but we ALSO keep pictures of friends and families in our wallets too!
As for dogs, Filipinos are not like Americans who keep their dogs in their houses... We keep our dogs in cages because we do not want them roaming around, getting hit by a car, or getting stolen... If you must know, microchipping and all those fancy stuff is not affordable in the Philippines. |

Filipinos are sentimental and have a healthy social pride in themselves, their family and friends. They may display the photo posing in college toga, their family group and/or barkada (friends) souvenir photos.
Dogs serve as house alarms, and for proper ventilation due to humidity, a grill enclosure not a doghouse is situated near the gate.
And perhaps, like how Westerners put their teeth behind steel or bars, to straighten them out. |

1. They are a very forgetful people.
2. So they don't get away before cooking. |

I guess it's because Filipinos are sentimental people (or maybe just a little bit vain :D ). It's not just the pictures of themselves, but photos of their friends, families and loved ones. I think it gives their wallets a little more personality. :)
Dogs are kept in cages to avoid accidents of dogs biting strangers. Or maybe, it's because there just isn't much space. Very interesting question though. :) |

I am a Filipino but I don't have pictures of myself in my wallet except for those in my ID (Identification card). I have my IDs since you need it for most transactions since its easier to carry around two pieces of IDs on your wallet than your passport when all you have to do is exchange peso to dollar or vice versa. Its also used for medical insurances, and sometimes student or elderly people's discounts. When I was in Japan, you need your passport too for currency conversion transactions and others. As for the cell, cellular phones are the latest hype. I think were now the texting capital of the world. It only shows you what the owner looks like. ^.^ With all the beutiful sceneries around, and all the friends we have wouldn't you wanna take a picture of yourself on your celphone too? Its portable and easier to share with friends than the old camera models that really use film.
As for dogs, unvaccinated dogs could cause rabbies. There are areas (local governments) that doesn't allow dogs loitering around since these could cause threat to passersby. Some owners could afford to vaccinate them so they could allow their pets to roam around their own compound or backyard. For those who can't, its probably better to cage them. This way you're also protecting them from being serve at other person's drinking session's plate(pulutan or meal to accompany alcohol to be exact. Stray dogs either end up this way or killed by road accident or shot depending on the location basis. Though there is some sort of a dogpound, the area of coverage is limited). However, come night time and you'll see the dogs roaming around for they serve as watchers too. These are for large dog breeds. Smaller ones serve as pets. One of my aunts even have her dog its own room and bed, during the day she carries it around as if it was her own baby.
As for people eating dogs, I think it differs from place to place. In our area, its not a common sight. I don't think I am capable of doing such an act. However, there are others that does it since its a part of their culture. Just like in other countries. I hope I was able to shed some light on the matter. ^.^ |

they have pictures in their wallet because of the following reasons:
1 spare or giveaways. in case someone, who, for decades you didn't see or meet, decides to get something from you. or filipinos generally take pictures of themselves and later give them to their dear, dear friends
2 resume pic. most filipinos keep their pic on their wallet and when they're ready to apply or pass their resume, whalla!!! they have their 2 x 2's
3 come on! even americans do that!
on cellphone:
hmmm everybody takes their own pic. on different poses. put them on friendster. take them to instant photo. i guess
why dogs on cages:
filipinos generally don't put their pets on cages. except maybe when the dog's too unruly or too troublesome to be kept free. besides that, there could be othere reasons but here, people love their pets. |

People carry pictures of themselves as a form of ID, like we do here in the US.
Dogs are kept in cages for the same reason chickens are kept in cages here. You figure the rest out. |

well, we carry pictures of ourselves in the US too. It's called Identification. |

well aside from identification , social securities , etc. We keep pictures of our families, friends, and love ones, well who doesnt? In times when we are lonely, we just take a look at those photos and for a moment, it goes away. The same goes with cellphones, we Filipinos are very family oriented.
Dogs are kept in cages, for a reason that : 1. some bite, hehehhe 2. if they get lost, they get EATEN ! , trust me on this, 2 of my dogs just went bye bye a few years ago. 3. People here have a different culture when it comes to handling animals. |

everyone has pictures of themselves in both their wallet and cell. Why?
- so they have extras so that when someone asks for one, that person can give a picture.
Also, why are dogs kept in cages?
- some filipinos like dogs but there housemates don't like them so they are forced to be kept in cages. and, some filipinos might not want to lose their dogs, so they keep them in cages. |

hi .. im a filipino .. i live here in my country Philippines ...
about the questions of keeping pictures ... well filipinoes are sentimental they keep memories as long as they can they'll bring those stuffs like pictures for them to look at .. especially pictures of the people they love like family, friends, gf/bf/wife/husband/kids, we love having it with us so that wherever we go there are thosae pictures we can look at especially if we misses them .. i myself have a picture of me on my wallet .. for vanity and security purposes such as in case ill lost it at least whoever found it would recognize .. i also have pictures of my family and friends on my wallet for me to look at .. and its important to have an identification along with you wherever you go so that in case of any purposes it'll help . even in cellphones . if youll dig more in there images folder youll see important pictures .. now ill ask you .. why are picture being made? its for memories .. right?
about the dogs in a cage so they wont lose them .. the dogs they put in a cage are those who are uncontrollable for them to handle .. and to avoid accidents . |

In case they die of a horrible mutilation, and you can't tell what they look like, all they have to do is look in the wallet. Sort of like military people wearing dog tags. Dogs in cages? That's the Filipino fridge. |
