if want you mean by chimays are those who look exotic, have long black hair, have a nice tan, not so tall but usually have a proportioned body-usually slender, maybe have full lips & an unprojected nose, soft-spoken, a terrific cook, can keep the house immaculate, not hard to please, have a good sense of humor, simple folks, a great listener & who can make a perfect wife & mother to their children.

why? because its hard to find one with some if not all those qualities anywhere else.

Please don't think I'm a chimay just because of my name. I fully understand what you're asking and yes, I do believe it's a fair observation. However, I have to agree with some of the answerers that your question lacks tact and bordering on insult. If only you had chosen to use the word "plain-looking", we wouldn't have this discussion and you could have gotten far better quality of answers from everyone.

I thought all filipinas were hot till I went to the Philippines. I think guys marry girls that you talk about because these girls give those guys more attention than they have ever gotten in their lives.

Remember that, to these white men, that all Filipinas are exotic looking. My husband says the he finds the average Filipina to be far more attractive to him than the average American woman. (he also says I'm the prettiest, but I think he's exaggerating, but that's OK :)

Also remember that the Philippine standard of beauty is quite different from the American one. Filipinas try to whiten their skin. American women try to darken theirs.

Your question is indeed insulting. Americans' standard of beauty is different than Filipinos'. Narrow minded Filipinos think that beautiful is to have white complexion with long nose. Americans don't care for those and what they like about Filipinas is that they are good at taking care of their husband and children.

Don't you notice too that these guys are the old ones, or those that are not really handsome themselves? Like they say, you know, beggars can't be choosy. Those are the girls that they can attract so more power to them. Or maybe those men aren't the shallow ones who only look for physical beauty. Live and let live! If you fall into either one of the categories you just created ("chimays" vs. "Ruffa/Charlene" type) be happy that you have a man who loves you for being you.

can't help but read all the answers...ur question is right next to mine...by chimays (not "maids" as you said), do you mean plain-looking ladies? could it be that 'sum of my fellow americans prefer simple, unadorned women (regardless of race)? i have 'sum friends who'd rather date the plain janes than the jane seymour types...just what their reasons are, i honestly don't know. my brother's gf (a filipina) is definitely not chimay-looking, per ur definition...n i'm afraid he's not that old either.

Have you ever stopped to think that not all people are interested in beauty or handsomness. Most, not all of these "beautiful" people are shallow and conceited and only think about themselves.
Maybe these "white" men are after someone with inner beauty something that the majority of the very beautiful lack.
Are you advocating that if someone looks like a "chimay" they are not permitted to get married? They have every right to be married and to be happy also.

In answer to your question: It might be because of choice and availability. If they were given a choice of an attractive Filipina vs. a not so attractive Filipina, then they would pick the beauty. Attractive Filipinas are not that many (as you might think). And, most have their pick of of boyfriends. They want a Filipina but they can't get the pretty Filipina. The beautiful ones are already taken. So they just get whoever they can get (mainly poor girls from the barios who are not that particular).

I definantly didnt marry my Filipina wife because she looked like a "maid".

Maybe those white men wants a lifelong companions who are not too high and mighty unlike those so-called high standard beauties who are not contented on what they already have and they even claim they are on the top of the world and yet most of them are still not contented, insecure and let's just say some are shallow. Well, chimays beauty are exotic which makes appealing to white people..... that's why China and Thailand are popular destinations to white people because they offer exotic beauty. Unlike Philippines which is more American, not Asian.
